Not too sure if this is the forum, but here goes.........
Read an insightful article a few months back with Sepp Piontek, the old Danish coach of late 1980s. He mentioned that a coach of women should not bother watching games of the men as the two are far too contrasting.
This is by no means a sexist debate, i do afterall coach HS girls, and love it, but wonder if he does has some serious credibility here???
i know of two coaches personally, both of a very high standard, who simply do not watch the mens game......for their personal coaching growth as they would rather spend time viewing womens internationals and college games to assist them honing their skills.
I have found that i do tend to get 'more' out of a womens game, if i try to watch it for tactical shifts, spotting the turning points, the good/bad coaches decisions.
Yes, we all know the mens game is faster. Let's not state the obvious. Plus women are catching up in all areas. Heading and GK goal coverage is still not of mens level. We have heard all this stuff. Give me more!
thoughts??

I agree that men are just a step further in soccer but i think that women are clearly showing some amazing stuff with a soccer ball. It maybe because women are not as strong as men or something but in a few years especially in the states woman will be nearly as good as men. No one in england knows the landon donovan or clint dempsey but everyone in my old school knows Mia Hamm and other woman on the states womans team. Its just exciting watching the usa girls team play, they play with so much heart and are clever with the ball, they might even beat some mens national teams it think.

yes this isnt sexist or anything but men are just better than women at soccer, period. they are getting very good however, and i usually enjoy watching the womens national team play, and even SOME womens college teams.
the recognition factor of how ppl in england know mia instead of donovan is because the usa were the world cup champs with her as a main reason, and usually the star of the world cup winners is known throughout the world. donovan isnt known as widely because he is on the usa squad which has yet to really impress the world so people will notice who he is and what he can do.

Women cannot play the game like Men can. The pace and speed is totally different.
However, the principles of play are still there, whether you play professionally or in high school.
