Should players, parents and the coach of a team playing under a Christian banner live up to the ideals of the school teachings?
Is the school a sham; an imposter that stands for zero Christian standards and supports 19 demoralizing goals against their fellow brothers in Christ.
We will all know the outcome by the Jesuit school leaders actions. If none are taken then the truth is that they are only interested in winning at all cost, stacking the team, humiliating others in the name of Christ and selfishness of their own pride.
If these players would actually attend the schools in the area that they lived they would not last a season because their foolish pride would be their demise.
As with all troubled kids their actions have no consequences, because they are overlooked as a part of the sport.

The only thing that surprises me is that Jesuit scored a goal, on average, every 4 minutes, approximately. That's some quick work.

Really now? And, tell me, what kind of soccer "program" does any high school have (including, and most especially, a school like Jesuit)? Surely not "programs" in the sense of the traditional sports where all of the development is done as part of a school-based team.
Clearly, and there are any number of examples one can cite, the best attracts the best…especially if one can pick and choose -and afford- which school to go to.
And you could pick a bum off the street and have him stand on the sidelines and act as the coach and do the same thing…with a team loaded with that kind of talent…talent not developed by the coach.
Scores like this do a disservice to the growth of the sport. But, maybe that is what was intended. Jesuit wouldn’t want parents thinking that there is an alternative and viable program for their children. That might impact enrollment! Better to smother the baby in the cradle.
Coachray, thisboardsux (and Jesuit’s classless display of power) actually goes a long way to prove the point I was trying to make in the middle school soccer thread.

"Don't forget to be nice to the people on your way up because they are the same people you will see on the way down" To the Jesuit player that posted, first of all you are a teenager and I realize that you don't see the world with the same wisdom and experience as an adult but remember that you represent not only yourself but your school, coach, teammates, etc. Also put yourself in the shoes of the kids at St. Aug who are trying to get a program started and remember that we as a soccer community from the coaches down to the players should support the efforts of any school that is trying to start a program, it can only make the sport stronger, and remember that people will talk whether its about a program like Jesuit or a program like St. Aug. No one is jealous of you. And to think that shows a pompous and conceited attitude. You are not unbeatable, no team is. "Remember when you are on top to look down so people can see your face, not up so people can see your butt" I think you showed the latter in your post. But as always Good Luck to Jesuit and all of the other teams in the playoffs and Coachray I would be honored to schedule my "joke for program" team with your "joke for program" team.

ya know i think this thread is long overdue on ENDING. playoffs start in 3 days and you all keep talking about this game like it is the downfall of civilization. i am not here to attack anyone so do not take it as negative. i believe this post is here to allow people to express opinions and not to critcize others from a computer. now this line might be taken as an attack. you "senior members", instead of ganging up on the people who love to give us informative posts like "coachray is gay" just be the better man ( or men since it seems like 4 of you jump in like the laprepsoccer mafia) and ignore it. is it that hard.... i hope everyone hear can stop bickering about about a score and concentrate on the playoffs.

If you are trying to start an argument between myself and coachray40, you will be unsuccessful. Please do grow up. As to Coachray40, I believe after your apology thread, that we are moving forward and simply writing opinions about soccer in our state, without commenting on each other. I was not present at this Jesuit game, and so I only looked on here because there were many pages. I have nothing more to say on this thread.

I'd say they were just taking a brief moment to relieve the stress of losing to lafayette last year...heads up to st A. for scoring...that is a task in itself...

I would like to commend the coaching staff of Brother Martin, particularly Coach Deritter, for their handling of games vs. St. Aug. FanoSoccer: I'd like to make sure your earlier post doesn't get buried. HUGE props to Brother Martin & Coach Deritter...the definition of CLASS.

With all the quotes being thrown around let me add these
"Nothing is more characteristic of a man than the manner in which he behaves toward a fool."
"Minds of moderate caliber ordinarily condem everything that is beyond their range."
Also i noticed that no one at the game has said that Jesuit played unsportsmanlike. Leading me to believe that some how they scored that much without rubbing it in

I would like everyone to pause for a moment and consider how badly Jesuit could have beaten St. Aug had the starters and only primary subs played the entire game like they do against Brother Martin and Rummel.
I am sure I am not the first to mention this (I skipped passed a few pages of posts because I really wanted to make this post), but those people who wished for the coach to play his scrubs ****NEWSFLASH - Jesuit doesn't have any scrubs. I make this comparison. There are probably three or four exceptional players at Jesuit and from player 5-20 maybe even 25 everyone is probably the exact same with regard to skill, vision, determination, heart, and drive. It must be difficult for the coach to make roster decisions. At least, I would find it difficult to juggle a rotation with this many really good players.
I don't condone winning this badly, but allow me to give a personal example. I wasn't in high school at this time, but I remember hearing a story that it took Carencro something like nine or ten season before they ever won a district game. St. Aug knew what they were getting into as did their players. And, just like back when Carencro was starting up, I really don't think the St. Aug players expected anything less than what happened in district. They knew that they were going to be beaten and beaten badly this season in their district games, but they probably ended up playing soccer this season to have fun not because they wanted to be the kids to beat Jesuit. St. Aug had other games this season; I don't know how they did in them. They may have won a couple, and it is the joy from these victories that the members of this team will remember.

By the term "scrubs", I meant people on the bench. I know Jesuit is a very good team, and I also know that their bench players are probably just as good as most varsity players anywhere else. What we were trying to say, play the benchplayers (being carefull not to use scrubs because you might get offended) and let them control the game. When they start getting way up on them, start passing the ball around, work on one and two touch passing and make a limit to when they can shoot. Like they have to have 10 consecutive passes before they can shoot. The starters don't need work on that, but the benchplayers do. That was the point I was trying to make.
