Okay, time for my round 2 predictions. I went 14 out of 16 in the first round and would love to be able to do that with my bookie for the NFL!! Carencro over Central Lafouche was a guess on my part, should have never gone against my former District 3 buds, sorry Mike. And I am still scratching my head over the Northshore over Dutchtown game. I would lost the house on that one if I was a betting man. On to the picks.
Round 2 bold=winner *=home team
Byrd East Ascension*
St Thomas More Carencro*
Fontainebleau Dominican*
St Joe's Chapelle*
Barbe* Caddo Magnet
Lafayette Terrebonne*
SSA Northshore*
BRHS* Mt Carmel
Couple of games that made me go hhhmmmmm: 1) Fontainebleau vs Dominican- Should be a great game but I had to go with the favorite. 2)BRHS vs Mt Carmel- hope there is no GYM night (still trying to figure out what that is?) and BRHS has the talent to upset MCA if MCA has another "off" night like they had last week 3) Caddo vs Barbe- (sure hope poopsie doesn't see this till after we play!!!) Caddo is a dangerous team, revenge factor from Barbe knocking them out last year in playoffs. One of the best keepers I have seen play this year and solid in every position. Looking for (or should I say hoping for) a 1-0 Barbe win.
If my predictions hold true, we will some great quarter finals games:
Byrd vs St Thomas More Fontainebleau vs St Joe's Barbe vs Lafayette SSA vs Mt Carmel
Your turn, agree, disagree??? Please talk amoungst yourselves!!

Just noticed on my picks, in 7 out of the 8 predicted winners Barbe was the only one I picked that is playing at home. All other 7 predicted winners will be on the road this round. Will that make a difference, only time will tell.

brhs finished second in a very weak district this year. mca will win easily and will face stm in the finals. stm will win it all.

Ok, barbedad:
Byrd vs. EA - Have to go with my buddy and his Lady Spartans STM vs. Cro - STM still the most impressive team to me thus far. Fontainebleau vs. Dominican - Tough one, really like both of these teams, but I think Fontainebleau advenges the early season loss. This one will be good. St. Joes vs. Chapelle - Going with my friends over at St. Joes, but watch out for an upset here (and geez, I should know a little about upsets). Barbe vs. Caddo Magnet - I think Barbe makes a statement in this game. Lafayette vs. Terrebone - Terrebone not quite ready for this challenge SSA vs. Northshore - Don't think Northshore will make it 2 upsets in a row. BRHS vs Mt. Carmel - Mt. Carmel is another team that I think will be hard to beat.
Well, I think we are pretty much in agreement, except with me going with EA.

a win by the spartans would be the upset of the playoffs. byrd will come out strong and focused and take advantage of a very weak defense. byrd 5 - ea 0
dominican will surprise Fontainebleau maybe in overtime. ssa, mca, laffy and st joe will have easy games. barbe has the tougher opponent but will win a close one. maybe their l.a. experience will be helpful.
good luck to all.

I agree with barbedad predictions except their game vs Caddo. Caddo will win this one.

Reply to the above email. While some teams in District 5 are weak, the top teams can play with anyone in the state. It's the same for most districts in the state. I know MCA and STM are strong (club teams in high school colors), but comments (like the one above) are petty and uncalled for. Let's see the result of each game, first.

well 2cents, this is a "prediction" thread and i predict a victory for mca. if i wait until the game is played then it no longer is a prediction. not petty, just my opinion to which i'm entitled.

Clarification. Your predictions are probably right. I was not alluding to your prediction, just your remarks about a district that you (probably) don't know much about. This forum should be to praise the kids, not knock them down. You were called out twice for negative comments you made on this thread alone.
And BRHS is a good team and will give MCA all it can handle.

BRHS over MCA is to me another surprising upset. Having played both teams this year, I would not have predicted this one.
Congrats to BRHS !
