Remember that at this level of competition, soccer becomes a mental game...more than anything else.
Defense wins games :
Defenders and midfiledders, including keepers will win games by staying concentrated, by keeping their marks in constant check, by disallowing space, and by keeping balance, shape and depth, and of course by denying the other teams any scoring...opportunities.
Offense wins games:
Attackers with the help of offensive mids will take advantage of the other team's mental breakdowns on defense...and exploit any scoring oppportunities.
It will all come down to how well the players will have learned from their regular season mistakes and if they won't allow their past nemesis endlist to repeat itself...in the playoffs. Hopefully they got rid of all the kinks in their preparation for the playoffs.
At this level, one mistake will translate in a goal and perhaps the game...
One corner kick set up break down will cause a heading score and perhaps the game...
One wall set up mistake and a fre kick will lodge the ball in the upper ninety and will cost the game...
It is all a mental game at this level... My son recently mentioned to me that soccer players are very intelligent students....I agree with him their are brain multitask oriented and make decisions on their own, without coaches tinkling their options during a game from the press box.
May the most intelligent team remain on top of their game and their nerves... to win the right to advance to even more mental toughness required games.
The most intelligently lead teams will meet for the state championship! Did Bora Milutinovitch speak of a chess game?!
So long, Rainbowcycle
