This a request to the Coaches that will be picking each Division/District Teams. Please consider when putting your players up for nomination not only a player's statistical imformation, but WHO was the difference maker on your team? The player that sets up the goals, the winger who just ran 40 yards and crossed a perfect ball. Or the keeper that makes a save or just by their presence forces that forward to shoot wide on a breakaway and would have given the opponent a lead. What about those defenders on the backpost who save a sure goal on a cornerkick. These plays also change momentum, but can't be quantified, and this coming from a statistian who has tried to find away. It's easy for HS Football coaches with reels of video to look at. From a soccer Coaches perspective it is much more difficult. All this to get back to the point, everything can't be measured by numbers, Who is the most critical player to your teams success, and do they make a difference every game (if not almost all). They are the ones who should be awarded this honor, not just because you won the district should you be able to put so many on 1st team. Only those who deserve it.

On the boys' boards they are saying the the district teams have been selected but won't be released until every team in the district is done with playoffs...is this true?

Probably. That is the way it has always been done.

Our coaches(Div. II, Dist 3) met Wednesday of last week and selected all-district teams, but they never tell until the newpaper publishes the result. I hear that Randy Miller, coach of ASH was coach of the year, which makes sense since he was 9-0 in District.

Can someone enlighten a Grey Haired Fossilizes former coach, how the All District teams are selected? Back in the stone age (late 80's) the boy's teams were selected generally based on where a team finished, 1st got 5 players, 2nd place in District would name 4, the 3rd place team 2, & the 4th place would get a couple on 2nd team if the other coaches were feeling generous. Just wondered if those rules still held true today on the girls side.

District 3, Div. I is a vote by coaches. Coaches can not vote for their own players and each coach votes for 6 offensive, 4 defensive and 1 keeper. After 1st team is selected, a second vote is taken to determine 2nd team and honorable mention.

That seems to be a reasonable way to select a All District Team. I'm sure politics is still involved, at least no one can stack a team with their own players. Does any of the other District follow such a sane policy?
