The bi-district round had few real upsets, but let's see what the regional round has to offer:
1. Byrd/St. Josephs- This is going to be one of the best games of this round. St. Joseph's started to peak at the end of the regular season, but keeps playing great soccer. They meet a well rested Byrd squad who had the luck of getting a bye week. I think this game will go into overtime (maybe PKs), with Byrd coming out on top. I think the deciding factor of this game will be the size of the field at Independence Stadium. Byrd won their district championship on it, but St. Joseph's hasn't had the luxury of playing on it.
2. Lafayette/Captain Shreve- Once again, the size of the field will come into play. But I think Lafayette is too strong to lose this game. Lafayette takes it by three.
3. Hahnville/Chapelle- Hahnville had an easy match against West Jefferson in the first round, but will be tested a little more by a good Chapelle team. They're playing at Hahnville, which will give Hahnville the edge. I think Hahnville wins this one by three or four.
4. Terrebonne/Mandeville- Mandeville will run away with this one. Terrebonne isn't strong enough to handle this challenge. Mandeville will put in at least five goals.
5. West Monroe/Comeaux- Comeaux put away Woodlawn in the bi-district round, and look to furthur prove themselves in the playoffs. I think Comeaux wins this one by three.
6. Baton Rouge/Caddo Magnet- Two years ago, Caddo beat a Baton Rouge team with Ashleigh Gunning in overtime. I don't know if this years outcome will favor Caddo. If their forwards are able to put balls in the net, then this could be a good match. Baton Rouge is playing great soccer right now, and should win by one or two.
7. Fontainebleau/Central Lafourche- Fontainebleau will continue to prove their dominance against a weaker Central Lafourche team. I expect Fontainebleau to put a good amount of goods in the net and come away with the win.
8. Mt. Carmel/Destrehan- Playing at Mt. Carmel won't help Destrehan's cause. Mt. Carmel will win this one easy, and hopefully we'll get a big showdown in the quarterfinals (Fontainebleau/Mt. Carmel).
