With the regional round wrapping up tomorrow, any one ready to start making their quarterfinals predictions? Interesting to see how many unraked teams are still in the running. Makes me wonder about the ranking system...
At St. Josephs Lafayette/Captain Shreve
At Chapelle Terrebonne/Mandeville
----------------
West Monroe/Comeaux Baton Rouge/Caddo Magnet
At Fontainebleau Mt. Carmel/Destrehan

At St. Josephs Lafayette
At Chapelle Mandeville
----------------
Comeaux Baton Rouge
At Fontainebleau Mt. Carmel
Only districts 4, 3, 8, 5 are left and these are going to be 4 great matches. A few barely made it out of the regional round, while others clearly dominated. Anyone ready to make predictions?

This is going to be a very close quaterfinals matchup...too close to predict in all 4 games, except 1 game I think is predictable... I think that Lafyette will beat St. Josephs by maybe 1 or 2 goals. The other 3, I think are all too close to call. I don't think any of these teams should be underestimated, but I see a strong Lafyette team giving St. Joseph's some trouble.

I have to disagree with the LHS / St. Joseph's game. I think this game will go to overtime with St. Joseph's winning. I also think Comeaux will beat BRHS by 1 goal. These are all good quaterfinal match-ups, please post playoff dates as soon as they become available.

With my limited knowledge of these teams, here’s my humble opinion…
Lafayette @ St. Joseph's (Monday night, will post time when available): Close game, and with poor field conditions (likely for Monday night) possibly even closer. LHS got a taste of Distict 4 with their 1st round match aganist St. Amant, and wll not underestimate St. Joe's abilities. On good nights, both teams have very strong defenses, and this game will come down to who makes the most of their oppourtunities.
Mandeville @ Chapelle (Saturday 3:00): As some one said in an earlier thread, Chapelle has the fortune/misfortune of playing in a tough district with MCA. Mandeville comes in off a low scoring win over Terrebonne, and without knowig much about either team, my guess is that Chapelle's best game will be good enough to knock MHS out. If MHS finds the back of the net early, things could turn in their favor.
BRHS @ Comeaux: BRHS's coach once told me that what it takes to do well in the playoffs is to know how to win, even when you aren't playing your best game. I've said in other threads about BRHS coming down from their peak, but regardless, they continue to win. Comeaux has been playing pretty quality soccer from the reports I've read, but if BRHS can keep defensive errors to a minimum, they have the ability to break through Comeaux's defense and put a few in the back of the net. Could be a close, but high scoring match.
Mt. Carmel @ Fontainebleau (Saturday 3:00): If both teams come out with the attitude that they are the top team, this will be as quality of a match as the State Championship. I won't even pretend to know enough about these two great teams to predict a winner.

The winner of Division I could go in several directions but as far as a prediction.... I will venture to say that the eventual winner will be a school that sits north of I-10 and south of I-12. Take your choice.

Don't know anything about Comeaux, either. I do know BRHS's best player hasn't been heard from yet. Sarah Benson. Very talented, very unselfish, great young lady.

I think Lafayette, Mandeville and Comeaux will all win there games. While I can't imagine who is going to win out of Fontainebleau and Mt. Carmel ~ Two very good teams. I believe that if both teams come out ready to play (which they will) this will be an excellent game to watch and it will more than likely go to overtime.

Just a short note to the handicappers. While it does appear that the two best teams in the state play in the quarterfinals (mca v fhs) the other game involving two teams south of I-12 will also be a good one. The previous meeting was won by achs 1-0 but i believe that mandeville overlooked chappelle, not believing they were any good. this time i am sure "the gloves will be off". it should be a great game. I only hope chappelle gives a good account of itself.

At St. Josephs Lafayette
3-1 Laffy-closer game than score suggests
At Chapelle Mandeville
Mandeville 3-1 (I know little about Chapelle) ----------------
Comeaux Baton Rouge
3-2 BRHS OT
At Fontainebleau Mt. Carmel Mt. Carmel 2-1 (goal in last 10 minutes for Mt. Carmel)
Could be wrong, but as far as my knowledge goes, that's what I think.

What knowledge? Sometimes it's better for a fool to remain silent than to open his mouth and remove all doubt. I see the games like this:
Comeaux vs BRHS. This to me is a toss-up. This isn't a cop-out but I see two very equal teams. I saw them both and if game were in B.R., I'd go with BRHS but the game is not. I think BRHS plays a more finasse game but home field advantage can nullify that. Too close to call
Lafayette vs St. Joe's. W

Sorry..... hit wrong button
Lafayette vs St. Joe's. Without a doubt, Lafayette is the better team. St.Joe's is playing great. The game is at Indy, St. Joe's is the underdog. Man, you can almost smell an upset here. My money is on Lafayette but my heart says St. Joe. A case of mind over matter..... my mother told me a long time ago to always follow your heart......... St. Joe in an upset!
