Kinda old news to those in the know but this information just made the Baton Rouge paper so I thought I'd post it. It's a great honor for Christine. Breaux wins Gatorade honor Advocate staff report
Christine Breaux says being named the Gatorade Circle of Champions Player of the Year continues a unique tradition.
Breaux, a Dutchtown senior and an Ole Miss signee, is the third consecutive Ascension Parish player to receive the statewide award, following St. Amant's Melissa Gary in 2004 and Holly Moran of East Ascension in 2003.
"It's a great thing not just for me, but for Ascension Parish," Breaux said. "Soccer in this area is growing so much and it's something to have three players from the same parish win the award.
"This means so much to me because I know there are so many other really good players out there who could have won it.
"It's a great way to end my high school career."
Breaux helped lead Dutchtown to a top five ranking in Division II-Class 4A and a berth in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs. Breaux finished the season with 13 goals and three assists.
Winning Louisiana's award makes Breaux eligible to win the national Gatorade award to be announced later this spring.

Cat.... Advocate continues to print the various Basketball All Star teams while the long finished soccer season All District teams go undetailed. It could be summer before the District teams are printed much less the All Metro Team. So sad that the Advocate only gives token coverage to soccer. It would be one thing if soccer had no support in our area but it represents the fastest growing sport in the Baton Rouge area. Hopefully soon, Advocate management will realize that changes need to happen with the Prep Staff and a revaluation of it's priorities.
