The Chris Nedelcovych Soccer Foundation is in the final stages of accepting applications to its Fourth Annual Young Coaches Camp run in conjunction with the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association. The details are:
1. Up to sixteen coaches, ages 17-23 will receive a full scholarship that covers room, board and tuition. Candidates from outside the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area will be provided with round trip transportation including airfare.
2. The camp will be held July 3-8 at the St. James School.
3. The curriculum will be based on the KNVB’s Introductory Coaching Course that stresses the use of small sided games.
4. The Coaches will be able to earn a MSYSA E Coaching License.
5. The camp will have up to 30 DDP level, 12-14 year old players in residence. The coaches will observe the staff conduct sessions with these players as well as having several opportunities to coach themselves. Evenings will be spent in a classroom lecture.
6. The staff will be lead by Gert Veldwijk, a qualified KNVB instructor, with support from members of the MSYSA State Staff.
7. Since 2002, 45 young coaches from 11 states and Mali have been awarded scholarships to CNSF Programs.
