Are you ready for some futbol??
Practice starts in 11 days and not one word on the upcoming season.... Here is my early prediction for District 3. Lets all make a prediction and look back on Jan 31st to see who knows what they are talking about and who makes the best guess.
1 and 2- Lafayette and Barbe- Of course with all Lafayette is returning they must be considered the top team in the state and Barbe lost 2 key seniors but are loaded in every position.
3 and 4- Acadiana and Comeaux- Comeaux surprised everyone last year (including themselves) and Acadiana overcame some adversity that would cripple any team without the talent they had.
5th Carencro- very young team last year, new coach early in season, everything going against them and they played hard and never gave up. Great spirited group of girls.
6th Sulphur- 3 strong sophomores, 1 junior playing select this fall but that is all this team has. These 4 girls would make any district team but not enough talent surrounding them to beat anyone except....
6th and 7th- New Iberia and Westgate- another long season with only victories against each other.
Overall prediction. Top 4 teams ranked in the top 10 in the state and all 4 winning 1st round playoff games. By far the strongest district in the state.

Good predictions. I would change places with New Iberia and Sulphur--I think New Iberia will be better than Sulphur this year. Also, I am uncertain about where to place Acadiana. If they can resolve all their problems from last year and get their act together this year, they may replace Barbe as the number two team. If not, they may drop lower than you place them. In addition, who is coaching at Comeaux this year? I heard that Osmond was leaving, but that may not happen. If Osmond leaves, Comeaux's fate will depend a lot on who replaces him. There are others who can do just as good a job as he did last year, and there are others who would not do as good a job.

1) Lafayette - stacked with talent 2 - 3) Acadiana or Barbe - Acadiana if the coaches can overcome the power trip they are on. They have the more experienced team. 4) Comeaux - they lost a couple seniors, hopefully they have some freshmen to replace them 5) Carencro - young but with alot of guts 6, 7 & 8) NI, Westgate & Sulphur, these 3 spots are anybodies

1 - LHS - lost no starting seniors from last year and add a good freshman class and a transfer from Acadiana ( assuming she is eligible to play ). Biggest problem might be playing time for all the talent they have. 2 - Acadiana - they will replace the seniors lost and should be deep enough to survive the long season. 3 & 4 Barbe / Comeaux - both teams lost significant amount of seniors and the team whose underclassmen step up will end up 3rd. 5 -Carencro - just don't have enought talent but may make the playoffs as a # 5 wilcard.

Def. put Sulphur up there and they werent that great ( with only 1 win) and New Iberia way at the bottom and they suprised everyone with a wildcard to the playoffs. Interesting.
