D1-4 Should be owned by Baton Rouge High, Dutchtown is moving up into the district at a bad time for the, replacing Breaux and Bethay, will be a tall order. St Amant, rumors swirl around players and coaches may be at odds. Former Woodlawn Coach Garett Baham replaces Rich Gary on the staff. St Joes has a new Head Coach, but a large group of players to round into a solid team without a super star. Then there is the bottom half of the table, Woodlawn - new Coach, not much in the way in of freshman coming in (or so I've been told), Walker and Central will once again be everyone elses wiping boy (OOPS, girl). I would hope this prediction is wrong, especial for the bottom three. As for the play offs, It looks like BRHS could go through the first couple of rounds without too much trouble, before they are tested. the 2nd and third place finishers may win their 1st round games but are unlikely to get any farther, 4th place finisher will more than likely draw a district winner so if the last two years is any indication (Woodlawn visited Lafayette, results; double digit loss in 2004 & 7-0 shellacking in 2005). Good Luck to everyone, it will be fun to watch how 2-5 shake out this year, in Div1-4.

I cant wait to see how this district will end up. For Dutchtown the question is, how do you replace a player like Christine Breaux? The answer is, you dont. You cant.... You nuture the young players to be able to perform for you in the future. Many of the Dutchtown starters now are part of the JV team two years ago that went unbeaten in their season, playing not only other JV teams (like EA's including a few EA varsity starters), but also other varsity teams.
Also as they have moved up a division; yes it will be tough, but for me that simply takes the pressure away from Dutchtown to deliver the results, whilst the real pressure and weight of expectation firmly rests on the shoulders of the Baton Rouge High, St.Amant and St.Joseph's Academy players.
With all that in mind........what an interesting district in prospect!! Good luck to all!

Don't know that yesterday's jamboree out at Dutchtown is a good indication (only twenty minute games) of what will happen this season but there were some excellent teams out there.
Episcopal looked great. They have a very strong offense. Dutchtown, St. Michael's and St. Joseph looked solid but I don't think it was enough time to truly get a good idea of what would happen in a regular game.

Indeed, I'd probably agree with that....
Normally it takes about 10-15 minutes for players to really get into a game at this level, and so in 20 minute games im sure that there were plenty of players who could not adjust in time.
Also, with such a friendly atmosphere at this jamboree, Im sure there were a few players who were playing for fun, rather than playing to win and grind out a result!

I agree that a 20 minute game is not a good indication of what would happen in a regular game. And it being a jamboree, I'm sure some coaches didn't always play their best for every game. The Advocate posted scores and it's interesting to see that St. Josephs lost to Catholic PC 1-0. I would imagine that this would perk up a few ears (5A perrenial powerhouse vs a 1A rural school) . So is St. Josephs as solid as indicated by wlfrocksccrstar or is Catholic PC a surprise team that might make a few waves?

I would not underestimate CHS-PC. That is a growing program and each year you can see SIGNIFICANT improvement. They are not a team to take lightly.
In the game I watched, although brief, St. Joe's looked solid in their team work and ball skills. I think it will be an interesting season all around.
There were some other lower division teams that beat teams in a higher division.

Jamborees are not much more than social get togethers and a chance to see teams that you wouldn't normally see. Trying to read anything in a 20 minute game is ludicrious; it's basically an opportunity to see your team under a game situation. Several commentors alluded to certain teams. Nobody mentioned BRHS or the fact that their go to players were with their club team in Raleigh. Not to take away anything from Episcopal but with Woodlawn's GK in Raleigh with BRSC, the replacement had no game experience. There was talk that Tara even wouldn't field a team this year so to say that Episcopal looked strong offensively is misleading or at least it is in the context of beating these two teams in a 20 minute game. I thought Episcopal was a good team with talented players but the point in what I am trying to say is that it's not sound to base much on these types of games at this point in the season. I agree with wlfrocksccrstar CHS-PC has some players, anchored by two All-Metro players who are sisters. Speculation is fun but when the dust settles it will still be BRHS, St. Amant, St. Joes in the top three in D1, D4. BRHS will still be the cream of the crop in this part of Louisiana.

I realize that BRHS, St. Amant and St. Joe's are powerhouses in Div-1 and to be honest for those of use down in Div-3 it really doesn't matter because how they do does not effect whether we go to the playoffs or not, but to play against good caliber teams and come away with a victory, even if it is a jamboree can be good for morale or at least a good way to give your team experience for the season.

What about the teams from nw La? How do Magnet, Byrd, Loyola, and Captain Shreve look? We don't get a lot of press coverage up here.

Episcopal should have looked good since they have 7-8 players from New Orleans, most of whom will be returning home after the holidays. Let me know what you see come mid-January. Parkview will pound them.

Most Div. I teams would not want to tangle with Parkview. They will be a handful and the dominant Div. III team in the area. Who if anyone have they played to date and what games are they playing prior to district games?

actually, episcopal has 9 new orleans players! they will all be going back i believe. but, the victories weren't all just with the new orleans girls. episcopal has a strong defense as well, none being from new orleans. yes, the n.o. players are talented, but that doesn't mean episcopal hasn't improved. i don't think parkview will pound them like they did the first game last year. it will be much closer this year.

Parkview will get a test this weekend at the Soccer Classic. They have Vandebilt, Lafayette and St. Amant in their bracket.
