E.D.White - 3 Teurlings - 1 Thad Angelloz Sports Correspondent The E.D. White Cathollic girls’ soccer team has one thing that many wish they had -- depth. Heading into its 2005-06 season opener, E.D. White returned to the soccer field with a new cast of characters after losing several seniors off last year’s squad that advanced to the Class 3A state quarterfinals. The players may look different, bur the results were the same, as EDW opened its campaign on a winning note against Teurlings on Monday night. The Lady Cardinals improved to 1-0 overall with a 3-1 victory. “I thought we did a good job tonight,” EDW coach Don Grabert said. “We got a lot of shots on a talented team. “We still have a ways to go, but I’m pleased with the way we looked the first time out.” The Lady Cardinals, who out shot Teurlings, 14-12, got the scoring started in the 18th minute of regulation on a Mindi Giroir penalty kick that made it 1-0. Giroir scored her second goal in the 42nd minute when she hit a ball over goalie Jennie Jaubert’s head into the right corner of the net to give EDW a 2-0 advantage. Teurlings (0-1) answered 21 minutes later when Caley Ventres hit a netter in to make it a 2-1 contest. “It was an excellent game,” Teurlings coach Rachel Schwarz said. “My girls gave it all they had and I can’t ask anymore from them than that. E.D. White has a well-coached, talented team and we knew they would be tough. We had our chances, but just fell a little short.” E.D. White’s Lacy Dugruise put an exclamation point on the game with less than a minute remaining when she out ran the nearest defender and scored off an assist from teammate Lesley Hidalgo. Leading the way for EDW was Giroir, who attempted six shots and scored twice. For Teurlings, Ventres was the leader with six tries and one goal. dailycomet.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051122/SPORTS/511220325/1020/SPORTS01

11/22/05 Mandeville Skippers 2 - Terrebonne Tigers 0 Solid game by the Skippers. My stats had Mandeville taking 13 shots on goal and Terrebonne taking 10. Mandeville scored their first goal on a PK about midway through the first half and their second goal on a good passing combination right before the half. Terrebonne picked it up in the second half and missed a good opportunity to get back in the game by missing a PK about midway through the second half. This was a good warm up match for both teams. Well played Skippers and Tigers.
