Great game to watch as a soccer fan. 0-0 at half. Pretty even first half. FHS came out in the second half exactly like we predicted. They run at you non stop for 80 minutes. They scored on an un-assisted corner kick. It was a beautiful kick and nothing the goalie could do. The second goal came about 5 minutes later on a great run by FHS. THS goalie blocked the shot, it bounced around in the box a little and an oncoming THS defender knocked the ball in. It was 2 hard goals for a strong THS defense to give up but we give FHS credit. They are relentless. Terrebonne had their chances but it just wasn't their night. THS stats indicated FHS had 17 shots on goal to THS 9.
Great season Terrebonne girls. They should be back in the mix next year with only one non-starting senior leaving.
Congratlulations FHS. You were everything we expected. Good luck against Lafayette.

HOUMA -- Before Monday’s Division I quarterfinal match, the Terrebonne girls soccer team had already gone further than any other team in the history of the school. The one team that stood in its way from earning a spot in the Division I semifinals was the No. 1 ranked Fontainebleau Bulldogs. And the Bulldogs proved true to their ranking. After a scoreless first half, two Fontainebleau goals in the second half gave the Bulldogs (21-0-1) the 2-0 victory and a spot in the Division I semifinals. Terrebonne, the District 7 champion, ended its season with a 22-5-2 record. "The girls had a great year. They played a great game," Terrebonne coach Julio Contreras said. "They just lost to a very good Fontainebleau team. They (the Lady Tigers) showed a great team effort. Getting this far is a great accomplishment for the school." Renee Hrapmann broke the scoreless tie in the 42nd minute of the match when her corner kick bent into the upper left corner of the net to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage. In the 47th minute, Macie Jones sent the ball past Terrebonne goalkeeper Sarah Damen (nine saves) to cap the scoring. "I thought it was a great team night out there, a lot of heroes on the field," Fontainebleau coach Rusty Brauner said. "No one player stood out. A great group effort, everyone played together." Fontainebleau goalie Jean Bernard had six saves, and the Bulldogs out-shot the Lady Tigers 23-7. "We will have a great team next year and give it another shot," Contreras said. "I’m not only proud of how far we got, but also how we got there." This is out of the houma paper.... houmatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060221/SPORTS/602210328/1032/SPORTS01

PutMeInCoach, Thanks for posting the article. I think that Fontainebleau ought to win the state DI title this year. To be honest, I felt that match was similar to the Jesuit-Lafayette match for the boys. The winner of the match would be, in all likelyhood, the state champs just based on the shear ferosity of the two teams participating. Fontainebleau has made it clear over the years that they want to dominate in girls' soccer. Terrebonne has steadily built their program over the years and the Bayou Region as a whole has gotten stronger wth the Lady Tigers. Not to take anything from the accomplishments of Vandebilt, but I think Terrebonne sent a message last nigh that there is another team in Houma that people must take notice of. To all the people from the Bayou Region ho were there last night, thanks for being there to support them and let's now show up to support both teams from Vandy that aare still alive in the playoffs.
To Fontainebleau, I hope that you win the title, you deserve it.
