It was not in the first minute, but it was early. Byrd made a drive and the goalie came out, but she dropped the ball and Byrd's forward kicked it in. Ironically, one of Mandeville's goals was almost an instant replay: Byrd's goalie came out, dropped the ball, and Mandeville's player kicked it in. Byrd led at the half. Mandeville came out for the second half charged. After their first goal, the score was tied for almost the rest of the time. They scored the winning goal in the last few minutes. The Byrd team really showed the effects of the five hour bus trip Sunday, overnight hotel stay, four hours' down time, two hour bus trip Monday, etc. They did not appear to be the same team that beat Northshore or West Monroe. Of course, Skipper Field is not Independence Stadium. As one of the earlier posts mentioned, had Byrd played Mandeville at Indy . . . Who knows? The girls did a great job and had a great season. They lose only one starting senior (albeit she is one of the top scorers in Div I). We'll see what happens next year.

I mentioned it...and you are right! Byrd is VERY TOUGH to beat at Indy.
Congrats to Byrd on a great year and best of luck to Mandy.

Interesting ByrdSoccerParent.
I think Mandy has only one senior on their squad this year. Everyone else back next year. WOW
