Have seen Lafayette: very strong defenders, GK untested, was saved by poor shooting versus St Amant. Players I have talked to that played against one or the other give slight edge to FHS. I'll go with FHS in PKs

Lafayette just seems to find ways to win. Shootout, OT, golden goal......it doesn't matter to them. I say Lafayette in extra time.

Lafayette does seem to find ways to win, but I don't think the "ways" will be so easy to find against Fontainebleau. It will be a test to see if Lafayette's defense (which I feel is extremely strong), can hold up to the speed and quickness of the Lady Bulldogs attack. By the same token, it will be interesting to see if the Lady Bulldogs' defense can contend with Lafayette's attack. I think this will be an extremely great game to watch (and for that matter to play in). I'll still give the edge to Fontainebleau in a close one (1-0).

In girls high school soccer, it is always hard to score in big games.
For that reason, I believe that a great defense can cancel out a great offense.
In addition, Lafayette's offense is nothing to scoff at especially on transition game where defense can bring the ball out hard, run it up the line, and send it cross with relative ease....and I am under the impression that while FHS has a terrific offense, like BRHS this year their defense is lacking.
I predict Lafayette comes out on top due to tremendous defensive play, solid midfield work, and better coaching. They score winning goal on break-away.

I know only what I read about FHS on this website, so I may be way off base, but with the number of shutouts FHS has against what appear to be some pretty formidible opponents, particularly in the playoffs, I don't understand how their defense could be seen as lacking.

FHS defense is the real deal. Terrebonne scored over 150 goals in 29 games this year and even though some of their opponents were not top ten quality teams they can put points on the board. THS sat starters in the first couple of play off games trying to heal injuries to be ready for FHS in the quarters. They had everyone back for the last game against FHS. Lafayette will probably have a couple of good opportunities in the game if they remain patient but they better make it count when they get the chance. Terrebonne had the shots but couldn't get in. They just don't give up many chances. The FHS defense is solid.

This is pretty cool, it is fontainebleau vs lafayette in both boys and girls semifinals... they will cancel out each other though.. FHS - 2 Lafayette - 1 HRAPMANN will shine

It will be a very good game! I think we should just let the girls play it and stop trying to promote one team!

.....................................................
Those are the crickets that you hear over stunned silence as the FHS defense which was not shakey all year drops 3 in 20 minutes (as slightly predicted).
No disrespect to the FHS defensive players who I am sure played their hearts out, but I think that this is an example of how in girls soccer terrific defense trumps awesome offense especially when tremendous defensive play out of the back reinforces and helps create the offense up top.
Connection between the defense and offense is key. Too many teams have a solid back line, but fail to have those players force their way into the attack.
I would be very interested in getting a play by play description of how the last two goals started.
Anyone?
Again - no disrespect intended towards a semi-finalist with a tradition of great play.

It's odd before the game the post were how the FHS defense was led by seniors but after it was a young defense. FHS has a great team and the game looked to be theirs for the first 70 mins of play. shots on goal LHS 16 FHS 6 per the newspaper I believe

I thought earlier that Fontainebleau had 9 seniors on the team.
Renee Rhapman-center mid
Macie Jones-right forward
Hannah Kaufman Swang-sweeper, best keeper
Sarah -defender
and others??
Thats some big holes to fill, especially Renee who was the main playmaker for that team that most of the play went through. The center forward is a good young player.
Thats near the last of the championship team isn't it?
