E.A. came out very physical and held Vandy to a 0-0 halftime score. # 14 Katherine Thompson from Vandy had a couple of chances in the first half but had one go high and one hit pipe. E.A. had her marked with 2 to 3 people all game. One take down on # 14 resulted in a yellow card and the E.A. player was high fived by her coaches for the foul. That wasn't very impressive for E.A. Second half started with several hard runs by Vandy with one ending in a short pass to an open Lindsey McGee that resulted in the only score of the game. E.A. did not have many good scoring opportunities the entire game but was the more aggressive team for the day. Vandy seemed a little off but that could be due to the aggressive play by E.A. Thompson had several runs in the second half also but drew pipe again and had a couple wide. Vandy's stopper # 32 had a very good game today.
All in all a good game to watch as a fan and good soccer played by both teams. Congratulations E.A. on a good season and good luck to the Lady Terriers in the finals.

All this talk about an offense but Vandy's defense is why they're on top of the division. They play well together. Such speed. Hardly any scores against them. No one gets by #11 and #22. Who are they anyway?

sosoplayer24 Good report, but must address a few points. WE WILL NEVER HIGH FIVE A PLAYER THAT GETS A YELLOW CARD!!!!!! I remember the play specifically, it was definitely a play worthy of a yellow card, that is why we never put a player back on the field right away. The child sat on the bench and after a few minutes was pumped up for her overall play, NOT the yellow card. This is the kid who has almost been unable to get out of bed in the mornings due to being so banged up. It was also her FIRST yellow card of her life. Katie Guthrie #13, kid like that is the reason why we coach, why we high five!! Second point, Catherine was never really man marked. No player was assigned to man-mark her. Often she was the lone forward, and all four defenders were in position, though not man-marking.
OK, onto more important stuff, hats off to Vandy. You are a quality team, super players, and obviously a well coached unit. I wish you guys the very best for State finals, and thank both Coach Matts for their stellar hospitality.
As for the game, interesting to note, zero corner kicks for the entire game. talk about two great defenses. I am very proud of EA's beaten up back four, and as for the three that ran the back for the Lady Terriers.....WOW!!
Thought at times EA had more possession of the game, but Vandy definitely had more scoring opportunities. Think the match-up was worthy of a semi finals game, i am so proud of the Lady Spartans, and only wish Miss Thompson and her Terrific Terriers all the best for next week.
Great Game

Points well made pompey and thanks for the explanation of the high fives. I mentioned this only because of how it appeared and was talked about. I'm sure the Terrier fans and players that read this will appreciate the explanation. Perception is everything when you can't hear what's is being said. Your defense did a great job all game on Thompson since it appeared she was being marked. As for you defense and the Vandy defense it was a great performance. Not to leave anyone out but # 9 and # 24 worked their #*!s off all game. Congratulations again on a good season.

Just to add on to what pompey stated concerning sosoplayer24. EA has been commended by several referees........yes the refs. We have received emails about how well the team played and handled themselves. Yesterday was no exception. The ref went directly to the coaching staff and complemented the team on their sportsmanship. This is someone who is in the middle of the action, who hears and sees what's happening on the field. I know this coaching staff and never would they condone diryt play. The high five was for her hustle. If you noticed #13 could not even finish the game. She was to the point where she couldn't run anymore on her ankle. I know other teams play with heart, but this was the strong suit of EA. I just want to congratulate the Spartans on a fantastic year. Thanks Pompey!

one last thing from me.....to all the people out there who think that playing select is the only way to do it, you are majorly wrong! look at ea they have NO players that play select though most do play rec and they could've easily made it to the finals! whoever said it is all about the coach is 100% correct because i have grown and learned so much from three coaches....goodall, naquin, and pedro! they are great coaches and have had teams grow so much and they know wat they are talkin about. so keep up the great coaching and i hope that both of ya'lls teams go farther next year bc YA'LL deserve it

soccafan13 it was I beauzeau that said it's all COACHING, and it is at this point. A good coach will always find a way to make adjustments to the other teams deficiencies. A good player can play any position on the field,,, bottom line. Be Cool !
