You are right and the truth is that there are those that should be recognized and those that shouldnt be. Which one are you? ohh I forgot you are not important at all only the team. Alright you too knock it off... There are times where individuals deserve recognition, this is why we have all state, all district, all city... But let's not forget that these players are nothing unless they have 10 people beside them. I know I was an all-district player, and I recieve my recognition. But without my team being there, helping me, playing with me. I wouldn't have recieved that recognition. When a player is recognized, it also recognizes that person's team. For instance, an all state midfielder, is just that, all state. However, everybody realizes if he didn't have the team to go with him/her, he/she is nothing. Unless one can beat 11... I am just trying to say an individual cant recieve recognition without the team. Without the team, no player can recieve recognition. A player can have all the vision in the world to make a perfect pass, but if the players don't know the game, it is useless.

This has truly turned into a divisive issue. Report the goals scored. That's fine, sometimes the amount of goals scored need to be put into perspective is all. As An Example there was a player on the boys side last week that scored six goals in a 7-3 routing. Why not pull him when you are comfortably ahead to avoid an injury. Let some one else get listed as having scored against a weaker team. If the past is an indicator the team I follow will score at most 20 goals this season 4 should be game winners (hopefully). The leading scorer will wind up with maybe 9. Her accomplishment will be recognized by the coach at the team banquet. It certain won't make her eligible for the golden boot, and probably not All State material, but she could still be recognized if her 4 Game winners put her among the top ten in the state (yes I know that would be a pipe-dream).

Well, now that this got out of hand, I'll add my thoughts. uncsoccer, (just judging by the words in your post and nothing else), I feel you don't really know how it is to coach high school soccer. Good coaches try NOT to promote any one or two players, in support of his/her team, because he/she realizes his/her team is what will win him/her games. Their actions on the field will self-promote them to the public. On a separate note, if you really feel that recognition for recruiting is coming from high school for these players, you are sadly mistaken. The playing field for recruiting is the premier stage, not the LA high school stage. The only impact that comes from promoting high school praise is an "after the fact" of establishment of ability on the premier stage. Although High School soccer is getting better in LA, it ranks extremely low in comparison to the other levels. Sarah Benson did not get recruited and signed by Maryland for crushing so many goals in high school and getting touted by friends/fans/parents etc in public and message boards, she got it from her involvement in soccer at a much different level than high school (from her witnessed performance, not from recorded stats). Christine Breaux did not get recruited and signed by Ole Miss by the bragging of Friends/fans/parents etc in public and message boards, she got it from her involvement in premier and ODP (from her witnessed performances, not from recorded stats). I know these things to be fact. So when you argue an issue and want to use information to support yourself such as the "recruiting" arena, know your facts first, because you are right recruiters are not coming to LA on a regular basis, but they are NOT listening to the stat regurgitation from fans/friends/parents and coaches either, and those things really do separate a team, whether you want to believe it or not.

You mean to tell me that players do not get recruited from high school? WOW that is really hard to believe!! No s---! I did not fall off the turnip truck. My involvement in soccer is way deeper than high school. So let me give you one story(of many I know) that is FACT! A female player whom is now a junior at a very well known college(Portland) was NEVER scouted as a player although she played both premier soccer and odp. She desperately wanted to play at Portland but never could get a response from them so her COACH called the Portland coach whom signed this player without ever seeing her play based on the coaches recommendation and the stats he accumulated on her. But you are right you know everything about the process, you know how to get recruited, you know exactly what you are doing so keep up the fine work. The fact is GOOD coaches do promote their players they create an environment of competition for the betterment of both the team and the individual. I really feel sorry for you if you play on a team where jealousy rears its ugly head when one or more players get recognition. Players should want their teammates to be acknowledged should pull for them and if that divides them then they where never a team in the first place!

I hope you recruit better than you coach since your players obviously can't pull for each other.
