Not trying to be anal retentive but I was looking at what games to go see this weekend at the C.D./St,Marins trny and wanted to go watch the bracket of death... Barbe , Clinton, Dominican and Sacred Heart. But interestingly enough On Barbes website it says they are going to the Gator Cup in Shreveport instead of the Nutmeg Cup in New Orleans. I hope there is no conflict and look forward to a great weekend. Of-course I hate giving any money to Colin Rocke ( no offense to Country Day in general.)

Yes I agree the bracket D is by far the toughest bracket. Barbe will be there and looking forward to some great competition.

PREDICTIONS A LAFAYETTE (Always know how to show up and get the job done in tournaments.) B STM (STM purely because of their reputation) C NEWMAN (Big win over Ben Franklin, but Vandy had a credible result against Country Day. This bracket could be very open.) D SACRED HEART ( I don't know anything about Clinton, but ASH have been playing very well. I don't think Barbe can beat ASH in New Orleans.)
I think Lafayette will play ASH in the final. Toss the coin there. The whole tournament is a great spectical for girls high school soccer in the state. If you get a chance to go I wouldn't pass it up. Good Luck to all the teams.

Ben Franklin/Newman game (scheduled for 5:20 pm Thursday) was rained out. Presumably it will be played tomorrow, but no official word yet.

Ok, I'll take a stab at this: Bracket A: Lafayette - no brainer (Followed by Chapelle) Bracket B: STM (followed by Country Day) Bracket C: Newman (followed by St. Amant) Bracket D: Sacred Heart (followed by Barbe)
Newman Sacred Heart matchup will be a great match. Lafayette and Sacred Heart in the final, can't go against that prediction. Good luck teams !

Slight correction to the above predictions - Sacred Heart and Newman could not meet until the finals as the semis are A vs. C and B vs. D . So based on your predictions it is Newman vs. STM and Laf. vs Sacred Heart in the semis. But don't count out Barbe just yet and I have heard that Clinton is a dynamo this year.

Friday evening 12/1 games (25 minute halves):
-Sacred Heart 2, Dominican 1
-Newman 1, Ben Franklin 0 (goal by Camille Robinson) Same score as on Tuesday, but the run of play favored Newman more tonight. Franklin tried a new formation and their inexperience with it led to the only goal in the 4th minute. Newman had two other good chances -- one on a corner kick/shot that hit the post, the other a strong shot from the wing on which the Franklin keeper made a great save. Franklin had one chance, on a corner in the first half with a ball bouncing around the box, finally cleared.

East Ascension 0 Lafayette 3. Laffy scored midway thru first half for 1-0 HT lead and added with a PK in second half and a nice finish for their third goal. Very nice distribution and switching throughout their team. Corner kcks had variety too. EA finally seeing some morale boosting rewards of playing their tough schedule. Actually got a touch more offense in second half. Not so much deer in the headlights anymore. Jefferson in goal was very solid.

Sat. 12/2 scores (partial):
Newman 2:1 Vandebilt Ben Franklin 2:0 St. Amant (goals - Tricia Travis, Siobhan Doremus) Catholic NI 3:1 Country Day St. Thomas More 6:1 ED White Vandebilt 2:0 Ben Franklin
Newman clinches its bracket regardless of its result against St. Amant.
Ben Franklin, even with the win v. St. Amant, didn't look much like the team that beat Vandebilt two weeks ago. The passing and aggressiveness were mostly absent. Right now, in Div II, it looks like there's a big gap between the top two teams (St. Thomas More and St. Scholastica) and everyone else.

Pretty good tournament overall for vchs. Tied st. amant 2-2, lost to newman 2-1 ,beat ben franklin 2-0. The girls are finally getting use to each other and have gotten all their players back from other obligations/ injuries/ illnesses. They should be alright for the remainder of the year and make a decent run come playoff time. PS. Falcondad Vchs tied st.thomas 1-1 in Laffy. I would think that that would put them in the top 3 don't you think? The fat lady has not started to sing on them yet!!

I would have to agree with uncsoccer. STM did tie with practically the last kick of the ball versus VCHS at STM. Good job this weekend Terriers . However, St. Scholastica appears to be the team to beat right now.
