Vchs 3 Country Day 0 Vch first goal came off corner kick that was headed in by the sweeper really good goal! The other 2 goals came from the starting jv foward who had a teriffic game replacing vc's starting foward who was ill but too hard headed to take herself out of the game or tell the coaches. She did end up with an assist playing from center mid. Country day had a few good chances with one hitting the post all others went to the keeper. Not the prettiest game to watch but it was a win!

sacred heart scored two early, then as the half was ending the sealed the deal with a third goal. Has anyone else watched sacred heart this season. They have tremendous talent, but they need to put it all together if they want to be successful this weekend in the country day tournament

I saw them play at East Ascension and they looked good. Good pace, decision making and control but I got the same report about their game versus MCA (from an MCA mom). "That they seemed lethargic and did not possess it all that well." And that they capitalized off a few MCA turnovers and then just sat back and defended. She did say that with about 10 minutes to go, up 3-0, their coach moved their blonde sweeper up along side their other blonde forward (I think that is Sarah Fogleman and Mae Casey) and they had two late chances. One that Fogleman played over to Casey who headed it over the keeper and it was cleared off the line by an MCA fullback.

Sacred Heart girl went to cross the ball and the ball dropped in the net for the first goal. The next goal came when SH had a corner and kicker had left hook that sent the ball in the net. The final goal came when there was a scramble in the box and a SH girl got a foot on it. Mount Carmel has a young defense and during this game it was noticable. Towards the end of the first half Mount Carmel picked it up and the ball was centralized at half field and in SH's half. After half time MC came to play and the game was controlled by the Cubs for the most part. The only problem was with connecting with the forward. Sacred Heart is a very good team but the score does not reflect the skill and talent held by Mount Carmel. Both teams will have to bring everything together more crisply in order to take it far in the playoffs, but as of now I would say both of these teams are high contenders in their divisions and should be watched.

Have watche EA play twice now, looks like coach is giving lots of players a chance to prove they can play Varsity ball. Suspect that will change somewhat - a much shorter bench when district time rolls around and games count.

Destrehan 1 - Central Lafourche 0
Destrehan scored in the 1st minute of the game. The right forward sent a low cross in to the box. Central's goalie dove and could not secure the ball and Destrehan's left forward was following the play and finished for an easy score. Central's goalie injured her arm/shoulder on the dive and had to come out of the game. Play continued and about 20 minutes into the half the rain really started coming down. The first half was finished in a driving rain storm and the game was called at halftime.

East Ascension 0 Lafayette 3. Laffy scored midway thru first half for 1-0 HT lead and added with a PK in second half and a nice finish for their third goal. Very nice distribution and switching throughout their team. Corner kcks had variety too. EA finally seeing some morale boosting rewards of playing their tough schedule. Actually got a touch more offense in second half. Not so much deer in the headlights anymore. Jefferson in goal was very solid.
