Does anyone take notice of the vast differences between H.S. Coaches, and how their teams play with respect to Loudness, Quietness, Public Critiques, Sideline Antics, etc....? I just want to get a feel from the other sideline! The players are performing on the Field, but some fans, and/or players, are more encouraged or turned-off by the Coaches! What do you all think?

i think being a good coach requires one to know his/her players. all kids, especially hs aged kids, will react different. you have to know which ones you can yell at, which ones you have to "baby" & which ones need the most attention.

I do not believe you should ever yell at the players. When we yell at the players we are putting the game before the girls. If you yell at a player in anger because they did not do the correct thing you are coaching for the wrong reasons. We should be coaching to invest in the players life and to make them better people. When we invest in their lives and let them know they are more important then the game we will get better results. I do not have the most talent in the world on my team but I would put thier heart up against anybody. My girls do very well against the strong teams even though they are out talented. They play as one unit because they are taught to care about one another.
In my opinion you will know if you did your job as coach in 15-20 years when your girls are good wives, good mothers and leading examples in their church. That is when we as coaches will know if we did a good job. If you yell at your players and all you care about is winning, then I say take of your lettermens jacket, hang it back in the closet and invest in your players lives.
