So we've gone through the best defenders and goalkeepers, how about the forwards in the state. A lot of great goal scorers out there, let's see what everyone else thinks!

Alex Bacque... Acadiana; Lindsey Warren... Vandebilt; Erica Arnold... St. Amant; Reyna Lubin... St. Charles; Kimberly Belmont... SSA However, a great forward is only as good as the person sending them the ball!

I'll add a few: Jana Barrow-Barbe (24 goals total) Ashley Eusea(sp?)-Hahnville (61 goals total) Hannah McCormick- Mandeville Ashley ??- Mt Carmel Alex Baque-Acadiana (Freshman with tremendous speed) Natalie Ieyoub- St Louis (scary with the ball)
But I have to agree with giveandgo- all these girls I would imagine have a solid mid fielder getting them the ball.

The combination of Bacque and Verret at Acadiana is very impressive. From what I've seen so far Bacque may have more difficult path, but definitely is capable of stepping up to the proverbial plate. Acadiana has such a young team it will be exciting to see what develops over the next couple of years.

ALEX BACQUE WITH 16 GOALS AND 12 ASSIST FRESHMAN JESSICA VERRET WITH 18 GOALS AND 4 ASSIST SENIOR THESE TWO DO MAKE A GREAT 1-2, WHILE NOT A HIGH SCORING CLUB, THE TEAM HAS IMPROVED EVERY GAME .

I completely forgot about J Verret (Acadiana) being a forward, I was thiinking mid field. Her and Baque are a lethal 1-2 combination at forward and the two of them I would guess have 75% of goals/assists=points for their team. Great speed at both fowards and if you can put up with Verret's dad, she is fun to watch!!! ;D ;D ;D Just kidding Mr Bill.......

I have no idea how this discussion has gotten this far without Chelsea Granger being mentioned, she is unbelievable, when those gold cleats start churning its like the Red sea is being parted. Also most impressive about Baque is her assist column, also please take into consideration where the large volumn of goals come from (i.e. its easy to compare scores but in weaker districts its rather skewed). Scoring against teams like LHS, Mandeville, Barbe, AHS for example earns a lots more respect that scoring against teams who don't even have a jv.

Cambri Prevost (Saint Thomas) is probably the best forward in the state, BY FAR, I go to school with her, and last yr. (as a freshman) scored over 60 goals, she is on her way of beating her record this year, she is very very fast for a girl, athletic, strong, good moves, quick, and very powerful. She plays for Madeville Club and I am not sure but I think her team has won state the last... 4 years, or 5 yrs. Im not sure, but she is the best in my opinion

Hey giveandgo thanks for mentioning Lindsey but she is not really a forward(although she plays it when her coach asks) she is a midfielder. Her stats so far is 15 assists with 18 goals on the year scoring on some of the better teams like St Thomas moore and Sacred Heart to name two and assissting in almost every other game.

The only reason Chelsea has not been mentioned is the games I have seen her play she is a wing. And Yes she is awesome at whatever position she is playing.

barbedad20, I think the girl from Mount Carmel is Ashley Colvin. If I am not mistaken shes a senior. Shes done pretty well for her team this year and has to have atleast 30 something goals with plenty of assists. I think this season may be a good end to a great high school career for her.

I agree that Verrett and Bacque from Acadiana are pretty good. But Bacque's best years are ahead of her. The 2 games I saw these girls play against Laffy - O goals - O threats All these girls that have plenty of goals, look and see who they have been against. My opinion of a good forward is not necessarily who scores all the goals but someone who has the mindset that everytime she touches the ball she can beat you and score. Doesn't always do it but truly believes it. Example: the Benson girl from BRHS last year. I think FHS forwards showed this early in the year against Acadiana. I'll bet if you do the research, the good goal scorers are the ones always scoring the goals in the 1-0 games. It's nothing to score 3 goals in the games where your team wins 8-0. Obviously anyone could have scored against that team. I know the voting doesn't always go to the BEST in each catagory and there is no true way to evaluate everyone since we don't see every team play. But it's the best system we have.

Who ws the best team she scored against?
I personally think one single goal against Dutchtown, Lafayette, Barbe, Mandeville, etc is better than 30 against traditionally weak teams.

The Coronel sisters (Marisol and Jeannette) at DeRidder High School are the two most dangerous scorers on the #1 team in their district. Marisol has tremendous footwork and excellent sprinting speed. So often she leaves defenders watching her play the game (watch and learn!). Jeannette is not as quick, but she is equally dangerous with her left or right foot. Moreover, she keeps defenders guessing which foot she'll use to shoot.
I expect someone else to comment about these two sisters' abilities. I know it is difficult for ASH, Tioga, and Sam Houston to acknowledge that a team outside the urban areas of Lake Charles and Alexandria is the Best Team. But give credit where credit is due, please!

The Coronel sister are indeed something very speical to watch on a soccer field, but niether of the are actually forwards. Marisol plays midfield predominately, as does Jeanette who also plays defense. Most of thier shots come from well outside the 18 yard mark. I think anyone within the district will disagree with thier abilities no matter where they are from. Jeanette has tremendous power behind her kicks, that even if they go straight to the goalie, sometimes they are very difficult to handle. Marisol is a joy to watch as well and I will miss her next year. But for anyone who thinks that it might get easier next year only having 1 Coronel on the field, not so. The youngest comes up next year and is an awesome all around player and will be equally fun to watch!
As far as forwards, I will admit, i don't know them all by name but Morgan Burlew for Tioga, Lindsay Pharris for ASH before her injury as well as several very strong forwards for Sam Houston stand out in our district as well.
Best of luck to all in the playoffs.
