Thanks for mentioning Morgan Burlew dhssoccermom25. She is a joy to watch and it has been great watching her grow as a player since she was 12.
Fast down the wing, deadly on crosses, she is unselfish with the ball and would have more assists if teammates were a tad better at their jobs.
Nicky Parker is another forward for Tioga who does not get credit often enough. She looks like she is strolling on the field instead of attacking, almost in slow motion compared to others.
Lindsey Pharris is another who was a danger anytime she got a breakaway before her injury. Our girls have all expressed their sadness for her injury. Just hope she can get things back together for college.
Someone needs to help me out here, I'm having a Sr. moment on last names, but Sam Houston's Whitney is someone that must put fear in any keeper's heart. I know last year she put our keeper (a Freshman at the time) in the back of the net with the ball!
I think Lydia Chaddik is great is a striker for DeRidder, and she has done a good job of putting herself at the end of Marisol and Jeannette's long balls this year....hmmm, isn't that a striker's main job?
Oddly enough, in DIID2 I think we have as many mids who score as we do strikers, i.e., Marisol and Jeanette, Megan Reynolds for ASH, Samantha Motes for Leesville, Tori Munsterman for Tioga.
And in our district, with the top 4 being so closely matched, goals have not been plentiful. Even Leesville and Pineville, who don't have their shooting games quite where they want them yet have defenses that continue to improve and make teams work for every goal.

My earlier response about DeRidder's Coronel sisters -- Marisol and Jeannette -- as scoring threats was warranted, because I interpreted the leading thread about "Best Forward?" as who are the best scorers.
Marisol and Jeannette are tremendous scoring threats -- and they play rover and midfield, respectively, because their strong dribbling and strong kicks make them so valuable in the middle of the field. Plus the two sisters play so well together. DeRidder's true forward, Lydia Chaddick, has great sprinting speed but lacks a strong kick. She scores within 10 yards of the goal. It's nice, though, to have the "balance" of strong kickers at midfield and two sprinters at the forward position (Lydia and Kara) to keep the defense guessing. Kara has good speed, too. However, Kara hasn't yet honed her athletism into the soccer skills she needs to be a "threat" on the field. Possibly Kara's best skill this season has been her throw-ins; she has strong arms and has shown good judgment in where she throws the ball.
Meanwhile, it will interesting to see if either Jeannette or Marisol (or both) earn All-State honors this season.

Pompey is absolutely correct, the right goal at the right time is worth 10 goals. Running up goals when the game is already out of reach is pointless and demonstrates no great skill. The best forward is the forward that can score one goal in a 1-0 game. In college they record game-winning goals. That's the measure.

Macee Crews, Jasmine Sanders, and Alex Loomis for Neville deserve to be mentioned (Alex plays mid as well). Crews and Sanders missed a fair amount regular season play for different reasons, but both are performing well in the playoffs.

Both fwd from Neville are very good. Also the #4 who plays wing/fwd has great ball skills. All three gave us (SHHS) hell tonight. And if i'm not mistaken it was Macee #10 who scored the games only goal.

fhs/barbe game. i watched #3 for Barbe (don't know her name) which played midfield most of the game but was instrumental for creating the offense and coming up to a forward position. An excellent player. fhs also had #17 Tarbel which was very fast and aggressive as well as #21 Blayton which is equally as impressive.

D1 D4 would probably be a toss up between Arnold from St Amant & Henderson from Baton Rouge High. Both are deadly if you let them loose long enough to play facing the goal.

fhs/barbe game. i watched #3 for Barbe (don't know her name) which played midfield most of the game but was instrumental for creating the offense and coming up to a forward position. An excellent player. If you were impressed with her, you should meet her dad! He is awesome. Thanks for noticing her, it means so much more for her to hear it from neutrel observers and not just her dad!! And I have to ask about number 3.... Who's Her Daddy?

Have any of you seen Natalie Ieyoub play? you harp on about all these players from 5A but she dam well deservese some credit. She scares the hell out of defense when she dribbles at them she can shoot from any where and is a brilliant passer if she doesn't play college ball then i don't know who is good enough to

I play select with Natalie Ieyoub and she is by far one of the best defenders and forwards I have played against or with. She has amazing footskills and great speed, and she's only a sophmore. fhs/barbe game. i watched #3 for Barbe (don't know her name) which played midfield most of the game but was instrumental for creating the offense and coming up to a forward position. An excellent player. fhs also had #17 Tarbel which was very fast and aggressive as well as #21 Blayton which is equally as impressive. #3 for barbe is Kristin Daughdril. Thanks ;D
