Caddo Magnet ranked above Byrd again???
So much for the idea that additional information would affect the poll results, huh?
If the poll voters' opinions are influenced by information (or lack thereof) regarding a particular team, where else is that info supposed to be posted if not in the threads on this subject??? My post last night compared and contrasted the CMHS and Byrd seasons and records, including tournament play. Even the CMHS folks conceded that Byrd should be ranked above CMHS.
Apparently nobody read it or paid attention to it before voting. But they did note that CMHS beat Airline.

Byrd vs Magnet?
Having seen both play several times this year, I think they are pretty even. Byrd had the chance to impress the South Louisiana voters this year at the Lafayette tournament but didn't do well down there and I'm sure that affects the voting. Magnet has a history statewide of success and that sticks with the voters. Byrd did win both district matches this year and will win the district. Both have played 2 games against Shreve, in each case 1 was close and 1 was a blowout. Shreve has a girls tournament with the strongest field of any North Louisiana tournament and Magnet won that tournament over Neville. Byrd was the only good team not in the field.
Put both teams at full strength and each most likely wins 5 out of 10 matches. Personally, I don't think either team is as strong as last year. I will be pleasantly surprised if either beats a good South Louisiana team this year. Both are young and I think both will be better next year.

Byrd should be ranked ahead of Magnet period. Past history doesn't matter when one team beats the other team two times in district play. Copakid14 said they were short handed the first time but had no excuses the 2nd time. But the only times that rankings matter is at the end of the season when the best team is #1. I do agree with ShreveDad that neither Byrd or Magnet will get very deep in the playoffs especially if they have to tangle with a team from District 3. They are by far the top district in the state.

If anyone gets a chance checkout Ridgeland High School. They are loaded with talent. One of their forwards has signed for North Carolina and they have a thirteen year old freshman who will also be a top prospect.
