This Monday Jan 29th at 6 pm at Barbe Soccer Complex, Barbe and Lafayette will play a 1 game winner take all for the district championship and the top seed out of district 3. Should be a great game between 2 of the best teams in the state and 2 well coached teams.

Seems a little premature to schedule the game before district play ends. You never know in this district. How was the location chosen?

I guess I should have put the disclaimer that if Barbe and Lafayette win t-row night then on Monday............ The principals had a coin flip to determine home field.

Hey barbedad20, Keep us up to date on the field conditions. After the rain we are suppose to get Saturday will we need HIP boots, canoe ... I am sure your field is like everyone elses as far as wetness goes, except maybe STM. Let us know if you need any pumps to drain the field. Hey, we know the conditions will be bad anywhere we would have been able to play. Definitely won't be the best of conditions, but should be a very interesting game to watch. The girls will be spent after this one. With the mud taking its toll on their legs, the adrenaline pumping, and the Championship on the line. Should be a good one, I'll see you there.

This will be a great match. Except for the wacky brackets that the state came up with this year it might have been a preview of the up coming state Championship game. Westgate or Carencro could make this game not happen with an upset tonight.

You guessed if sokerfan the field is in horrible shape. With the rain we are getting today it will not make it any better. Our field crew (i.e. Scott McAtee) will be working on the field t-row to get it in the best possible shape but don't expect much, he can't work miracles. Can you have the Lafayette team helicopter you travel in hover before you land and blow off some of the water??
Should be a great game in spite of the conditions. Hoping for a huge crowd Monday night at 6 pm.

Good luck Barbe and Lafayette - Hopefully your conditions tomorrow are much better than are conditions we had today down in Dutchtown and Baton Rouge.
My only prediction is: One heck of a good game featuring 2 top notch teams ! Good Luck !

Sokerfan, I know this won't surprise you but it might others. We had parents out on Saturday and Sunday afternoon with shop vacs getting the field ready for t-row. They spent most of the afternoon squeegeing and vacumming the water. The field, while not up the the high standards we have for the Barbe Soccer Complex is looking in remarkable condition. If you could have seen what it looked like Friday night to what it will look like t-row night you would, as I do, appreciate the hard work of some dedicated parents we have here at Barbe.
On another note.... There are 2 other districts (BRHS and Dutchtown, and Mandeville and Fontainebleau) who had ties for District Champs and neither of them are playing t-row night. Why is it our district has this "1 game championship" and no other district does? I love the games we play against each other but God forbid if someone were to get hurt t-row in this game. Just curious why District 3 plays and no other district does? Do you know sokerfan??

If you have co-champions in district 3 and you used the criteria from district 4 who would the champion be? Good Luck to both teams!

barbedad20, Each district has their own rules and that is what is in the rules. With that being said, some don't believe in co-champs - period. And if no co-champs, they feel it should be decided on the field. Therefore there is a playoff game. I know the risk of injury is always out there, and we are not the same team when we are missing people, you know that. But until voted down that's the way it has been for a while. In the past - about 4 years ago there was a coin toss, because nobody read the rules and did what they wanted. But after research they found the rules to be as they still are and as we are abiding by. That is a cion toss for home field and the 2 teams play to decide district champs. We may have more bouts than Ali & Frazier. We could possibly meet again in the semi's if things go well for both of us. Can you say Round 4. Even though these 2 teams have good games, I wish we had the chance to play someone different in the playoffs. Games are much different when you have to learn your opponent as quickly as possible in order to succeed. Hope we have a good officiated and well played game tonight. See you there.

Congratulations to the District 3 Champions the Lady Buc's of Barbe Barbe 1 Lafayette 0 The Lady Buc's put one in the back of the net midway thru the first half and the packed the box for the remainder of the game. Lafayette dominated 80% of the play and at least had double the shots on goal but never found the back of the net A large and loud crowd was on hand which is fun but it just doesn't seem right to play music on the PA system while the ball is in live play. No doubt having the "home" field played a large part in the outcome of this game. When you have the quality of ref's that we enjoyed tonight it is little wonder why it is hard to come to town and to win at the Barbe Soccer Complex

I guess barbedad is out celebrating...lol... Yep your right, still smiling......... An awesome atmosphere with a huge crowd on hand at Barbe Soccer Complex and rowdy fans from both teams to witness a great game by 2 of the best teams in the state. We had 3 college coaches on hand to witness a hard fought game on both sides of the ball. Lafayette controls first 15 minutes of the game and at 20 minutes Barbe gets its first breakaway and a rocket shot by Jana Barrow was saved by Chelsea Ortego with a diving stop but the ball bounces in front of her on the 15 yard line and Freshman Wing Alyssa McAtee hits a rocket for the 1-0 lead. Rest of the first half was controlled by Lafayette with Barbe getting a free kick on the 25 and Forward Jana Barrow hits just over the crossbar. In the second half Jana gets another chance at a free kick and sails just over the crossbar for another close Barbe chance. Final 30 minutes of the game was all Lafayette with Barbe playing defense to hold on to the 1-0 win. Lafayette has been the District 3 Champs for the past 4 years and played well enough tonight for a possible 5th straight. Barbe and Lafayette have played 3 times this year with a both teams scoring 2 goals in the 3 games. I have said before, these are 2 of the best teams in the state and 2 extremely well coached teams. Barbe wishes the best to Lafayette and the other 3 District 3 teams hitting the playoffs this week. We should see all 5 teams do well deep into the playoffs.

It's in the record books. It's not always the team that controls the game that wins the game. Example - all 3 Barbe/Lafayette games. With that said, you need more than just a good game to win this state championship. You need to be hungry and things need to go your way. Barbe is following in the foot steps of Lafayette High. 2 years ago Lafayette made it to the finals, only to lose to Mt. Carmel in PKs. The next year they were hungry and very determined, nothing was going to stop them. Lafayette High managed to find ways to win games, sometimes even with only 1 minute or so remaining. Last year Barbe lost to Lafayette High in the finals and now I see that same thing happening for Barbe this year, they are finding ways to win. Whoever plays them in the playoffs need to be willing to do whatever it takes as well. They will be ready. And to the Barbe Lady Bucs, CONGRATULATIONS from a Lions fan. Enjoy it, it cannot be taken from you. Hopefully we will see you for ROUND 4, this time Lafayette winning with a knockout.
