Weather forecast for Shreveport, Thurs. mid 30s all day 100% chance of rain. Friday 20% chance of snow (yes, snow) early afternoon, night lows mid to low 30s. It will be cold but the playing field should be great at Independence Stadium. Several years ago the Independence Bowl was played in a snow storm and the playing surface held up great. Should be a great double header. Byrd-Acadiana at 5:00, Caddo Magnet-Northshore at 7:00

It could rain 3 inches in an hour tomorrow and the field will be dry 20 minutes after it stops. I imagine the temp will be in the mid 40's at kickoff. The kids up here are certainly used to playing in those conditions. The Acadiana girls will love the field. Should be a great match. Good luck to both teams.

Well, District 6 is gone from the playoffs. Who will be next?

WHy would anyone doubt Pounchatoula? I picked them to win because after all the practice they get in their "really easy" district (SARCASM) I knew they would be a formidable opponent for Hahnville. Look those Mandeville and Fontainebleau girls may dominate but it can't hurt the other squads to play them. Only elevates their game.....Don't know if they will get further but it was nice to see them win!!

Lady Tigers, congratulations on a good season....one nobody expected. The future looks good losing only 1 senior. The experience the freshmen gained this season will go a long way to making this team even better next year. To Megan, congratulations on a fine career. It's been fun watching you play. Best of luck in college and in whatever your future holds for you. With some changes in St. Charles Soccer in developing younger players, you'll start to see a steady increase in quality of the pool of young girls coming to HHS in the next several years.

I am kind of surprised I have seen any "outrage" over Mt. Carmel's 15-0 playoff win. I know I just posted the score 12 hours ago, but by this time with the Terrebonne-Thibodaux game their seemed to have been numerous posts. Is it different in the playoffs?? Is it okay for Mt. Carmel to do it?? Is 15-0 just more acceptable than 19-0?? I'm outraged. Yes Yes No Happy?

fhssoccerfan,
I see you singled out Mt. Carmel but selectively failed to look for any "outrage" over Mandeville's 14-0 score against Bourgeois, even though that game was the day prior to Mt. Carmel's game. I guess it's OK for D5, but not anyone else. As you should know since you are a fan of D5, Mandeville's coach has always had a reputation for running up the score, even when he coached Mt. Carmel.
Please don't try to stir the pot because by doing so you are only showing your individual bias.

suddendeath makes very valid points but to expand his thought on .500 teams, I agree that there are just too many teams in the playoffs. Thirty-two teams could be reduced to twenty-four with all district winners getting a first round bye. I know this has been discussed in years past but to avoid some "ugly scores", take only the top three teams in each district and accept the fact that some excellent teams in some of the stronger districts may be eliminated from post season play if they finish fourth or fifth in district.
I know that suggestion will probably start a heated topic.

Mt. Carmel actually played their second and third team players for 90% of the game. If they really wanted to run up the score it would have been more like 50-0. There is only one solution. Only playoff caliber teams should make the playoffs. I actually like these scores because it may force LHSAA to do something about it.

suddendeath and mfg17 make good points. Taking lets say the top three in each district sounds good. But in District 3 this year we have 9 teams, we are adding another next year and splitting the district into 2 - 5 team districts. So top 3 is okay with these disrticts, but what about FHS district next year they will have 8 (I think), will 3 be enough from that district Maybe 4 from that district and 2 from districts with less than 5 teams. As long as each district knows how many teams will go based on district size. Maybe that could even things out some.

Byrd 1 Acadiana 0
Gametime temperature was hovering around 40, no precipitation and no wind.
The artificial turf at Independence Stadium took wet, muddy field conditions out of the equation. Both teams played well. Hats off to Acadiana, for a game well played.

Sorry. My contact at the Caddo Magnet-Northshore had to leave. It was too cold. The Magnet folks must still be out.
