As a referee from Alexandria, would you please let ALL of the coaches/faculty responsible for contacting referees that the Alexandria association is NOT eligible to work playoff games this year. This is due to the fact that we never received the test from LHSAA, and therefore could not take it. The assignor asked me to put this on here, because he has already had to turn down 5 coaches in the last 2 days. Thank you

There is a test given to all officials at the beginning of the season. In order to ref the playoffs, you must pass the test. I guess LHSAA just overlooked it and forgot to send them the test.

According to this post, this is what happened... exam was taken, but not sent to lhsaa before the deadline. they have been notified by lhsaa that they may not referee playoff matches. i would hope the assignor will not take games. if they do a game, per lhssaa it is not valid and will need to be replayed prior to the deadline for that round. if not played with legal referees before the dealine, the match is deemed a forfeit to both teams and neither advances. not lhsaa's job to make sure officials turn in their paperwork, it is the assignors duty. not an lhsaa error.

Latest scoop is some will be allowed to take the test now due to the ref shortage. There are crews working 2-3 games in one day. Not good if you want to give each team the 100% they deserve from each ref. The Alec refs are needed.

that would be good if they allow it, but that would be unusual for LHSAA to make an exception for anyone, ref, player, coach, etc. they have never done that in teh past

just to add a little information, the reason alexandria refs cannot work is that we were not sent the correct test. we took the practice test because that was the only test we were sent. and from what I know (but may be wrong) is that we turned the what we thought was right in on time, then later learned that it was not the right test.

When I was calling around trying to find refs for our game I was told some referees were having to do back to back games, some triple games, to get these in on time due to shortage of refs. This must be really tough on them.
I too heard the Alex refs were sent the practice test. We have a good new assignor who is usually very on top of things, so sounds like it was a misunderstanding, however costly.

This is the Alexandria assignor. What happened was that we never received the correct test, and that is why they told us we couldn't do playoff games. HOWEVER< this afternoon, I got a call from the head of the referees in the state, and he told me that LHSAA will allow us to do playoff games as long as we get referee registrations to them before we do any games. So, I'll be running around town tomorrow getting paperwork filled out, in hopes to get a crew together to help out one of the associations who are spread very thin. WE ARE AVAILABLE FOR PLAYOFF GAMES!

I am 100% positive this is correct. I spoke with Mr. Guzzardo, the head of ALL officials for LHSAA, this morning, and worked the ASH?Neville Girl's game tonight.
