I am actually kind of rooting for Terrebonne (not that I have anything against Lafayette; just like rooting for underdogs sometime).

terreboone scored in the 8th, rulled offside. This was the key call of the game. After viewing the video it was clear that the Terrebonne player was not off-sides and the goal should have stood. In my video you can see the Terrebonne players shoulder clearly behind the Lafayette player and then she passes her up to get to the ball and finish. If Terrebonne scores in the 8th minute their strategy changes for the rest of the game and maybe this ends differently. Most of us know that an early goal can dictate the rest of a game and this was a big turning point even though it was the eighth minute. The remainder of the game Lafayette dictated play probably 65 to 70% of the time. Terrebonne had several spurts in the game but it was mostly Lafayette. The Lady Lions scored their first goal in the 37th minute off of a beautiful corner kick that was finished perfectly. The half ended with Lafayette 1-0. The intensity picked up in the second half with both teams controlling spurts but again Lafayette held the edge. The second goal came on another corner that I thought should have been called back when the Lafayette player went hard in to two Terrebonne defenders knocking one in the goal with a knee to the thigh and the other caught an elbow in the chest with the ball being pushed in with an arm. I give Lafayette credit for hitting the goal hard on corners and going up 2-0 at this point. At this point Terrebonne went on about a 7 minute spree of keeping the ball on their end and coming out with nothing. Great defense by the Lady Lions. The 3rd goal was a good thru ball with a cross and a perfect finish. Terrebonne made several runs but never got a clean shot on the goal. This was by far the best team Terrebonne played this year. Defensively they are solid with a solid keeper in the goal. Their ball control, passing and vision of the field is second to none that we have seen this year. Their size and strength was very impressive. I haven’t seen Barbe play this year but it is amazing that this is the number 2 team out of district 3 but obvious why they are the defending state champions. With all of the physical and technical skills they also played good clean soccer with great sportsmanship. From Terrebonne to the Lady Lions we would like to wish you good luck on your run to repeat in 2007. To Brian, it was good to finally meet you and hear you analysis of Lafayette as promised to soccerfest. To Scott, see you soon with the Havoc. Report card on the game: Terrebonne A (for a great game and season) Lafayette A+ (everything listed above)

I don't know what angle you had the video from that showed the Terrebonne play in an on-side position. The AR was in the correct position and the call was made before the player ever shot the ball. It was a correct call in my opinion. That is opposed to the call on the breakaway that the Terrebonne player stoped by first almost pulling the Lafayette player's shoulder out of socket and then tripping her to finish the job. The center saw fit to call a foul but didn't award a card. What rule book did that come out of? I agree that the second score off of the corner was most likely a hand ball but there was many many odd or inconsistent calls in this match. The game was very physical. The tigers did a lot of boom ball but only had two or three shots on goal. The shot count for the lions was at least 18-20. The Tiger keeper made some great saves and the lions missed a couple of open nets. The field was dry and not in bad shape from what I could see. It seems to be narrow and the runways for track are with in a foot of the touch line Congratulations to the Lady Tigers on their district Championship and good luck in the future.

I thought I would give an objective view of this match from someone with no ties to either team! The offsides call I do not know I was to far away and at a bad angle to tell. The refs where very inconsistent but seemed to favor laf more than terr. The first goal was really nice and to me the only pretty play by both sides, The other goal off the corner sure looked like a handball but at that point I do not think it would have changed the outcome. As far as physical play and cards Laf deserved 2 yellows and a red. I saw a laf player kick a terr player while she was on the ground(red) and twice I saw a laf player throw a terr to the ground(yellow). Terr should have had one yellow when a terr player shoved a laf who fell backwards and hit her head. It was very physical which is fine with me as long as it is clean. Laff had more chances than terr but terr sweeper had a great game and kept laf from scoring more. Terr lacked any real offense and semed to be playing more of a lets keep the score down kind of game instead of moving the entire team forward and starting attacks from the back moving foward with passes instead of just clearing the ball. I do not know either coaches strategy so this is just my opinion. Finally, laf was the better team although I disagree with soso that they are better than mandy or fhs but time will tell on that. By the way I have nothing to do with those teams either.

I was also at the game and am a parent of neither team. I saw a very physical game but did not see calls favoring either team. There seemed to be some calls that should have been made but were not -but when does that not happen in a meaningful playoff game that is so physical? If anything, I thought the refs missed several calls against terre-so, go figure. I saw the game dominated by the stronger team, Lafayette. I couldn't tell from my angle about the offsides but that did not dictate the game-Lafayette was just stronger. Had it not been for #8 on Terre, Lafayette could have scored a few more. Did Terre get a shot on goal? Also, I saw a few mistakes made by Lafayette, as well as missed oppoortunities (not to take anything away from these girls) but I beleive Mandy or FHS has the potential to beat them. Good luck to those who move on.

Terre had some of the most classless players I have seen grace the field. Don't forget to mention the reason the Laffy kicked the girl on the ground is because the girl first lashed out at her with an exaggerated tumble turn cleat-in-face war. Lets talk about the obvious red from the girl who pulled down then tripped someone who was on a break away, or the girl that got launched out of bounds only to hit her head on the tar mat that was 3 inches away from the side line. Horrible officiating, should have controlled the game much better. Laffy didn't begin to get aggressive until it became apparent that was the only mode of self-defense. Congrats Laffy for the w, in the end thats all that counts, Judice's 1st goal was one for the ages.

That foul on the breakaway should have been a card, without a doubt. Also, the dangerous foul an the side when the Lafayette's head got slammed on the track. Terre was not only not called for the foul, but awarded the ball.

To call a team classless when you've only seen the play this one time this year is sad. I will agree that the game was physical and some of these plays should have received cards but to call a team classless for fighting for their existance is wrong. The player that you say went cleats up was a senior that received 2 yellow cards in her entire high school career. The player that you say should have been carded for a takedown on a break away received 3 yellow cards in her 4 year career. The knock out of bounds where the player hit her head probably should have been a yellow but both players were aggressive. It was a great battle in which Lafayette was clearly the better overall team but to call a team the most classless you have ever seen on the field is a little much.
