The band played the ENTIRE time at my daughter's game last night. They were very loud and annoying, most of the time not playing any songs. We enjoyed the brief minutes of quiet when they took a break.
Not only is this annoying to fans, but I learned after the game that it affected play because the girls literally could not hear one another.
Should this be allowed? It is the first time I have ever seen this in many years of watching soccer. I'm all for school spirit and cheering, etc as I think soccer gets a bit dull at times, but I believe this type of activity should be prohibited- especially when it affects actual play on the field.

I agree with you creek. When it gets to the point when you can't communicate on the field, it becomes an issue.
Back in the 2005 state playoffs, Jesuit decided to bring their whole marching band out and play for the duration guys game against LHS. I'm not sure if affected their play. Spectators who are somewhat "new" to the sport (students comming b.c its the cool thing to do or what ever) seem to be the ones that I see doing things like this. It can be prevented in a way. Such as "No admittance with loud/distracting device" or simply just talk it over with the administration. Even having a senior member parent working, can simply tell the individuals who are making the music (if not school sponsored band) that they must stop or they will be kicked out, or having a policeman/cop let them know.
There are many ways to handle this.
