I watched the game as a neutral observer knowing girls on both teams. Dominican looked good... very organized and got to the ball first on almost all plays. Dutchtown, on the other hand was sluggish and looked like they just gave up! I think it was a huge mistake to move their sweeper up to the midfield; the only good that this did was make it easier for Dominican to score! Any doubters out there Dominican is for real!

I also want to say this - why does every one think that teams such as Dutchtown and Dominican do not deserve to be in the tournament? Dutchdown was 2nd in their district (4-2), as was Dominican (8-2). Fontainebleau was ranked 2nd in their district (5-2)as well and look at where they are - in the semifinal. Why doesn't someone say that Fontainebleau shouldn't be in the playoffs? Mandeville is in their district and they were 1st (5-1). And when you look further, Lafayette (3-2) is ranked 2nd in their district as well. None of the teams left in the semis were ranked 1st in their district. So how are all of them not qualified to be there? So how does one determine the best 4 in a tournament? Are teams that are ranked 2nd in their districts not worthy to play? Fontainebleau was SEEDED second in their district, but still finished tied for first as far as being co-champions goes. My bad.

Assists by the Domincan keeper are no surprise. Her left leg is the Bomb. Club teams don't allow it much, though. I think Domincan is believing the destiny stuff, and they have a great coach.

Dominican was the better team last night and finally won a game in the playoffs because it deserved it. I know this may upset some, but Dutchtown did not belong in the last 4. I think there must be a better way to figure out the State Championship. The way the system works now the final four does not include the best 4 teams in the state. I agree about the way the system (seedings in playoff brackets) being a bit odd, but still... the 4 best teams in the state are not guaranteed to make it there in the final 4 mainly b/c they can be beaten (this is assuming that the 3 of 4 teams you are talking about are MCA, Mandeville and Barbe). If your team is good enough to be considered the 4 best, they should have a better chance to play well against any team on any given day that is not considered the best 4 and win. Isn't that what it means to be the best? Though using the term "best" is arbitrary during the state tournament. Losing to a team that is not in the top 4 doesn't really mean a team is not as good as the other, but it is part of playing the game on any given day with all the variables put in (it's a round ball that bounces. Anything can happen). The team that can find the ways to win and makes the most of all opportunities usually comes out on top. The best teams won more than 20 games this season. But you can't win every game. In the state tournament, it doesn't matter if you're undefeated or have lost most of your games. Tournaments are unforgiving - everyone has to show up at that moment and play their best. Your records up to that point really don't matter anymore. Looking at Dominican, it seems like they started out their season slow but now the team has geled at the right time. Not bad for a team that has no seniors. Good luck to them. Dominican has one senior in Lauren Call

Well said, ronaldo11.
Dutchtown didn't set up the bracket (that we're aware of), so why fault them for their road to the semis?
How can you not look at Dominican without giving them their due...wins over Mt. Carmel and Mandeville in back to back games? Who's the last team that could say that?
Whether anyone thinks they (Dominican) deserve to be in the "top 4" doesn't matter, they flat out earned their spot in the finals!
