Did Kandice's injury "hurt" her chances to have been offensive MVP? Didn't see Sara Damen's name either!

Did Kandice's injury "hurt" her chances to have been offensive MVP? Didn't see Sara Damen's name either! I think what hurt Kandice's chances is the huge game against Thib, many may have saw this as trying to "pack the stats", who knows? However, the reason she probally didn't get it is because she is not what Terrebonne's game completely depended upon and threats are all over the field for Terreboone. As HLB, had one main threat, and some teams had problems stopping her, that is why she prob got the nod. Sarah Damen didn't receive recognition for this fact, her # of saves. I bet there are low. When you have a team that plays in a weak district, and doesn't allow shots, I don't see how you can show off your talent to be the first string keeper of the district. The biggest surprise of all is Alicia getting Defense MVP as a GK, and allowing plenty of goals in district against terre and cl.

I have to agree with putmein on the comment about t-bonne being balanced and not depending on kandice as much as hlb depended on jazz. I don't agree with the "packing the stats" theory when she scored over 150 goals in her four years at t-bonne and was looking to pass more than score in the the game being mentioned. Both are quality players with a lot to offer their teams and either would be good mvp's for the district.
I also agree with the theory on sarah. She is an excellent goalie who was over shadowed by a defensive line that didn't allow many district oponents to get off quality shots. It's tuff on a kid that was on the all-state freshman team and all-district her fist 2 years to get nothing her junior year. I still give her the nod for being the best goalie in the district, just didn't get a chance to show it.
I was also surprised about alicia getting defensive mvp over defensive players from terrebonne or central. Both teams dominated the district defensively and couldn't crack through on mvp. I think t-bonne allowed one district goal on the last game against central and central only gave up a couple outside the goals given up to t-bonne. Sounds crazy to me. Congrats to alicia.

I understand from a certain standpoint about Jasmine and Kandice. I think both probably did deserve this, and I guess if you look at what each meant in terms of "value" to their teams then Jasmine is a logical choice.
Sarah is just a shocker b/c despite having fewer saves due to a strong defense in front and a weak district, she was still hands-down the best goalie in that district...the coaches have to recognize that. She's not just a warm body that didn't have the ability...she is able to withstand an offensive barrage from any team in the state. Just my opinion.
Our keeper had the fewest saves in the district and still got the first team nod b/c the coaches voted on ability, not stats.
Thanks for the words of wisdom.

Voting on abilitiy is a tricky thing. Not every player plays to her ability day in and day out. You have to prove you are the best day in and day out. Hard to do that when you don't have to do anything.

I agree Sarah was a shocker and I would also have to add Sarah Petrie to that list. I think about 80% of the line up is right but I think Terrebonne and Central should have had more representation on the team but that's not the way it went this year. I would also have to throw one more name in the hat for MVP this year. If you look at the progress made by South Terrebonne this year you would have to consider Annika for MVP. She was as critical to her team as any other player in the district.

I do agree that Annika could have deserved a nod for MVP...she made a vast difference on that team.
Please understand I am not trying to take anything away from the girl's recognized...obviously the coaches made decisions they are comfortable with...so kudos to those girls recognized!

There was good representation by all schools on the team this year. You can never please everyone and there is just so many spots. I agree with several of the post about the absence of some key players but the coaches voted and this is the way it came out. Every player on every team knows what their contribution was to there team and for some that will have to be enough this year. Good luck to everyone in the future and stay strong and work hard for your spot next year.
