When are the all state teams announced. I would like to see a girl (boy) or two from Sam Houston this year!! Last one I saw (could be wrong) was 2005 Whitney Holland and Ashley Rudd Freshman team. Another question. Is there always a freshman all state team. This was the only year I saw this catagory

Maybe this year, there will be players from New Orleans on the team, too (unlike last year).

Your coach should nominate them for all-state and vote if that is the case.

All-State teams will be announced at the annual coaches association meeting this Saturday and then released to the public afterwards.
Member coaches are permitted to vote on the all-state teams. In many cases, when a team is not well represented (or not represented at all), the coach has not joined the association. Every year we hope to have the most representative membership of the coaches throughout the state and the most representative all-state team possible, but that requires participation on the part of coaches.

Timberwin is correct. In our area I was suprised to see several of the coaches were not members and in turn could nto vote - hard to get the girls up north the votes when most of the coaches in the south never saw them. Make sure you r coach is a member and support your hard working players.

As a coach in the North I fail to see the value in being a member of the soccer coaches association. Short of being able to vote for All State, what other benefit is there? Additionally, the lack of exposure to the southern districts would make it impossible to actually have one of my players selected for the teams. Personally, I see it as a scam to pay money into an organization that doesn't publish a budget, or provide me with an itinerary for what they are hoping to achieve in the future.
With LHSAA recognising the soccer coaches association perhaps that will change; however, I have my concerns and serious doubts.

slacker
You are not alone in this. I have felt left out all these years. Even when I paid my dues, I still did not vote, why to vote when I do not even know any of the players or the teams? I am aware of the much learning that awaits me but other than having the ability to vote, what else is there for the coaches in the North? It may very well be that the players in my team do not perform at the level of the better teams in other parts of the state. I have a lot to be proud of my players but we just do not have the high scores, large winning records, etc. We are just trying to compete with a very limited resources.

I agree with everything you listed in your post. The only argument I have for joining the organization is that you can't stay silent and change anything. Join the organization and go to the meeting and see what it's all about. Everyone knows there is some good soccer being played up north and that their are kids that can play. Take up the battle for them and make a change.
