This game is at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Caddo Stadium for anyone interested. This years Shreve team is the best I've seen and I think they will make a definite run for district. Also this game comes less than a week after the very upsetting loss of Shreve's football team in the playoffs to Byrds.
This will be one of the most heated girls game in recent memory.

Lets hope everyone comes out and is very vocal for their team, but respectful of the girls on the other team. The Shreve girls are really excited to be playing this game and I'm sure the Byrd girls are as well.
The football game is over and I hope all the bad behavior shown by students from both schools is over as well.

Please write a summary of this game so those who are not in North La can have an idea of what happened. Shrevedad, or Punkaro. Thank you.

I took this from the Div I / Dist 1 thread....first paragraph were my comments, 2nd paragraph was from Shrevedad
Game was much closer than the scoreline shows. Score was 1-0 with roughly 10 minutes left in the game. Byrd scored 3 goals at the end with the aid of at least 20 mph wind. As predicted, Shreve is much improved this year. Their primary breakdown was at the outside mids defensively. Almost all the goals were scored from a ball played accross to an unmarked outside mid....something they should be able to correct with a little time and experience for those players. Overall Byrd got their result and Shreve proved they are dangerous and not to be taken lightly. Good game from both keepers and defenses.
Goals were scored in the 46th, 74th, 77th and 79th minute. Congrats to Byrd, they played well. I was really impressed with their keeper. She came off her line well and took away almost all our crosses. Might have been a different result if the wind hadn't come up at halftime but that was just bad luck. Shreve girls played hard, just couldn't find enough offense to stay with the Jackets. If they keep playing as hard as they did last night this should be a good year for the Gators!

Copakid14, Shrevedad,
Give us down south the breakdown on these two teams. Returning players, stand outs for both, history, who will be there in the playoffs, you know, the good stuff!

greenfury,
Byrd is returning 11 seniors and a strong group of underclassmen. Without getting into the chest beating that some of the other members like, Byrd's "pre-season" included scrimmages against West Monroe and Loyola. Byrd blanked both of those teams. So far in the regular season, Byrd beat Capt. Shreve and Huntington and lost to Neville. They played in the Hahnville tournament (I didn't get to go).
I have only seen Capt. Shreve play once this year, when they played Byrd. I have to agree with other members who think that this is the best Shreve has looked in a while. I don't agree, however, that the 4-0 win was because of the wind or that the result would have been different without the wind. Byrd had to control the ball in the wind just like Shreve did. The wind certainly did not blow the ball into the net. And during the same ten minutes that Byrd scored its 2d, 3d and 4th goals, they were playing without one of their starting defenders, who was invited to leave the field on a red card.

The 2nd time Bryd beat Shreve 4-0 was because of the humidity.

The comments from the first game were that the game was closer than the scoreline indicated, which was a true statement. Nobody said that Byrd would not have won that game or that they are not the better team. Byrd is a better team than Shreve no question. The first game was very early in the season and, like every other team, I'm sure Byrd has improved as they have gotten games under their belt. Good luck to Magnet and Byrd at the Showcase tournament next weekend. I would love to see an all North Louisiana final!

Try getting to make ShreveDad say that Byrd is a better team than Shreve. He can't do it.

Try getting to make ShreveDad say that Byrd is a better team than Shreve. He can't do it. Sure I can. Shreve is beat up now, physically and emotionally. They played great in the Gator Cup and played terrible against Airline and Byrd this week. Byrd was better than we were last night in all phases of the game.
