WOW... What a line-up.
Here are my predictions:
Bracket A SSA & Sacred Heart pick your poison. The winner of this bracket may come down to tie breakers, but I pick SSA
Bracket B St. Thomas wins this bracket with Mt. Carmel in second.
SSA vs STM in the finals. STM wins the Gold Division of the Classic for the second yr in a row.
Bracket C Vandebilt wins the bracket with Ben Franklin in second.
Bracket D Catholic N.I. wins the bracket with EDW in second.
Vandebilt vs Catholic in the finals. Catholic wins the Silver Division.
Tournament a great early season challenge for all teams. Teams will have their weaknesses exposed early. Now have a month to improve before district play starts.
Let the predictions begin...

So this schedule was updated on the 22nd, correct? Gold Bracket B sets up nicely for Mt. Carmel. Given the schedule of kickoffs, St. Thomas More starts their three games within a fifteen hour timeframe - 8pm, 8am, and 10:40am.
Newman has a game scheduled against Dominican on Tuesday the 27th and with the update to the tournament now play Mt. Carmel on Wednesday night.

Newman doesn't want to lose twice to Mount Carmel within 2 weeks, so they cancelled their game against Dominican Tuesday night. Mt. Carmel still plans to play their game against St. Joes's Tuesday night. As for St. Thomas More, it's not fair to make them play 3 games so close. The schedule should be adjusted.

Would Jefferson Playgound and Cleary Playgound be one and the same? Could not find anything on Jefferson Playground.

Games will consist of two thirty minute halves and a five minute halftime. All referee decisions are final. Game lengths can change due to inclement weather. All games will start on time, except due to inclement weather. Bracket Scoring: Win - 3 points Tie - 1 point Loss - 0 points Tie Breakers: 1. Head to Head. 2. Goal differential for bracket games. “Goals for” minus “goals against” with a maximum of three (3) per game. 3. Fewest goals allowed in all bracket games, no maximum per game. 4. Goals Scored (Max 5 per game). 5. Penalty Kicks. Semi-finals: If tied after regulation; game goes directly to penalty kicks. Finals: If tied after regulation; game goes to two ten minute halves. If still tied after overtime; game goes to penalty kicks.

Newman controlled the tempo of the game. They had the better chances. Mt. Carmel had a few, but not as many as Newman. Mt. Carmel's keeper had some good saves to keep her team in the game. The field size is long and narrow so much like Newman's home field. It definitely played in Newman's favor.

I agree with NutMeg on the Newman-Mt.Carmel game. One thing is for sure, the field is not one to make some of the best teams in the State play in. It is a football field and you can see the holes in it every 5 yards. There is also no space between the 18 and the throw-in line. This tournament was planned a year ago so I don't understand why a change in the field was made in the last minute. Some teams will not return because of this.

I hope that is not the case. It was the admistration that forced this problem upon the soccer program.
