Good to know tigertail. Obviously there are a few teams that will need time to get themselves together. Most likely as the weeks progress, they will begin to make an impact. I can think of a few to look out for, Byrd, Comeaux, Lafayette, Acadiana, St Amant just to name a few. There are some who hit the door running, and some who hit their stride later.

ha ha thanks barbedad...STM at #7 for 2 voters? hmm....even if the latest results had not been in, that's a tough one to figure out for me. To each their own!
I can say that I don't think Mandeville is a top 5 team at this stage of the season. (nor is Magnet). Magnet should have won their game in regulation. Both teams need to improve on finishing their opportunities if they want to crack the top 5.

Re Mandeville schedule, they lost a number of excellent players last year - several that are playing college ball, including Hannah McCormick, the consensus state D-1 MVP - and it looks like the coach is trying to get the new players integrated into the team. Perhaps 1/2 of the players with substantial time this year are freshmen and the starting lineup is still fluid as a result. The tounament hosted in Shreveport this weekend was well-run with generally excellent competition. The team played 5 games within 24 hours! And the championship game against Caddo Magnet went to PKs after 2 overtimes. Throw in a 6 hour schoolbus ride in each direction and it was a grueling experience. At this point this is probably not a Top Five team but could be deserving as a Top Ten team. With all of the new players, this is one team that should continue to improve throughout the season. They will give SSA and Fontainebleau a run for their money before it is all over - what a district!

Tigertail, There aren't any results on Lafayette at this moment. They only played one game so far, Hahnville. It was a 1-0 game and a well played game, I heard. That game was played with the JV squad and those who will fill in some holes for Varsity. The premiere players just returned to the team about a week and a half ago. It will be an interesting year since graduating 8 seniors last year and having to replace the back line of the defense that experienced the semi's their freshman year and 3 straight finals to finish their high school careers. The back 4 came in together and left together, they were special. This year will be a difficult one, Lafayette should be the favorite to win their district. However being a weak district may hurt the Lions. They are scheduled to play New iberia on Tuesday Dec 4th then on to New Orleans to play Newman on Friday and Mt. Carmel (I think) on Saturday. This should let Coach Breaux know who will be able to fill in the holes left from graduation. You may see forwards playing defense this year until some of the younger players step up and get adjusted to high school soccer. Don't count the lady Lions out though, Coach Breaux will get the best out of her young players and be competitive along the way. They will be in the St. Louis Tourney mid December as well, so good competition for the lady Lions in the near future.

know1, diverdo, and sokerfan,
Thanks a bunch for solid info. When I vote, my head tells me these programs should still be pretty strong, but having more info helps me make a fairer selection when I rank my top ten.
Awesome job, posters!

When Lafayette beats Mt. Carmel and Newman this weekend then they should be in Top5. Watch em. As for Voters #5 and #6, how did STM get voted 7th? No knock on the vote. Just curious.

When Lafayette beats Mt. Carmel and Newman this weekend then they should be in Top5... "WHEN," huh, I applaud the confidence. If that does happen, I'll be impressed for sure.

Speaking of the St. Louis tourney...
Barbe, Lafayette, Byrd and Comeaux all in one bracket. That is going to be some interesting soccer.

ribeshears
who will break bracket at St. Louis tourney? and why?

Well I am personally biased towards Comeaux always. They play a good strong game and I have a personal interest in their success. They have a tendency to play up to their competition. But I am concerned about Barbe's speed and Lafayette's defense. Barbe beat Comeaux at home, Comeaux tied Byrd this weekend at Hahnville's tourney and tied Lafayette in the jamboree. So it will be interesting to see who has the endurance to keep up a very high level of play over the course of the weekend.

ribeshears, the Lafayette and Comeaux tie in the jamboree, just to let you know was not the team that is on the field now for Lafayette. They were missing 8 premiere players for the jamboree. Totally different team now, and will be better by seasons end when they get playing time with the new players. Ask Amber, she knows who those players are since she played with them in Oklahoma.

Thanks...I am aware. Comeaux has always been competitive against Lafayette's team and I expect the same this year.

I have a quick clarification question:
You wrote: Division I
"Others receiving votes: Airline 2 3-5-1 Capt Shreve W 5-2 , Caddo L 2-8, Byrd 1"
Caddo WON 8-2 over Airline. They did not lose. Typo?

Essentially what they were saying was:
"others receiving votes: Airline 2 pts, they are 3-5-1, they played Capt Shreve and Won 5-2, they played Caddo and Lost 2-8
