Thanks to all the voters who make this site possible. I know it is impossible to personally see all the teams play, so your efforts are greatly appreciated.
That said, I would place St Thomas More at #1 in Div I. They won the St Martin's Tournament by beating St Scholastica head-to-head. The better team won today.

I know it was just a matter of time till this was brought up and it didn't take long. In the voters defense- 2 voters sent their votes in early this afternoon before any results posted. I think you will see a little different rankings come next week.

For the voters information St. louis defeated Newman 3-0 at the St Martins Tournament. I know it is early in the season and we will see a different Newman team in late January, But we did win and the lady saints deserve the recognition

I think STM should be #1 since they beat SSA head to head. They are also unbeaten against great competition. Also, Mt. Carmel should be #3 ahead of Barbe since Barbe did not advance out of their bracket. How come and Mandeville is ahead of Dominican? Because they play easier games just to stack up the wins? And in Division II Sacred Heart should be #1 ahead of Newman. Not only they advanced to the semis, but also beat SSA on the way there.

I agree with barbedad, my poll was sent in just prior to 9pm since we hosted a tourney this weekend.
Had I sent earlier in the day I would have been oblivious to the STM/SSA score. Things will probably shake next week.

I agree with neutral. Isn't that he whole point of week to week polls? Head to head same division wins and losses should be reflected in the poll. How do you put SSA ahead of STM with no losses and a head to head win over SSA. Plus SSA has two losses at the same tournament? WHO is running these Polls? What criteria are they looking at? Your record should be the first criteria until you either win or lose to a ranked opponent. Then drop or climb accordingly.

greenfury if record is the criteria than mandeville should be ranked first. I don't disagree with you STM should be ranked over SSA based on the win Dominican beat FHS who they are ranked lower than now.
Its like the BCS.......strength of schedule has to way in at some point. The truth is, the poll is great for debate and the deserving number one will reveal itself come Feb.
Greenfury relax, you seemed bothered, that sure is a lot of question marks

On the contrary, not bothered at all. Just trying to understand what criteria is followed on the official poll. The extra question marks are because my computer is fast and it rattled off a few more than I actually wanted. Didn't feel like deleting.
I agree that Mandeville should also be considered, atleast 2nd, followed by SSA as you said, based on record. Just questioning how it works.
As said before, February is when it really counts. Stay healthy, and have your team peaking usually gets you far.
Thanks for the chat.

If you look at the first place votes, 4 of the 6 voters this week put STM over SSA. My guess is ,as stated previously, the other two voters hadn't seen the results. History shows the further we get in the season the more accurate this poll becomes....it's still early. If you really want some debate, they should post the votes of each pollster like last year with an anonymous "voter1" "voter2" etc. That really gets people talking when their team gets a couple top 5 votes and 2 other people leave them off completely!

WHO is running these Polls? What criteria are they looking at? As I posted earlier.....The polls come in before all data is released. We, as voters, try and get all info before we vote hence the updated scores and current records on this page as the week goes on. This takes time and the dedicated few do this to get the info out about girls soccer in Louisiana. It is easy to criticize what we do but harder to get people to get involved. The top 10 voters are not a secret society, I am a proud and I think educated voter. We open the voting up to ANYONE who thinks they know enough about girls high school voting to cast a vote. All I ask is you send to me by 6 pm on Sunday. Of course if we get a vote that is so obvious just to rock the vote (like a team with no wins voted #1) I will reject. Other than that, send me your Top 10 and let everyone question the results you send me every week. Thanks. B

Gentleman, no criticizm here! AS I stated before, from a purely interested perspective, I was simply asking how it works. Is the LaPrep Official Top 10 voters coming from interested dads and other folks or does it come from another source tied into LHSAA?

I vote, I'm a HS coach.
I have not seen many teams I vote for, I only have the results posted on the board to go off of. I take into account latest results combined with who teams played during the week.
I then make SUBJECTIVE rankings based on the info I collected and rank the Top 10's. For example, I voted St. Joe's #10 on week 1 based on their results/teams faced. Then I saw them at the CL tourney, they did not impress me. I moved them out of my top 10. The other day I read that their JV played in the CL tourney, not the varsity. So I bumped them down for no reason, but the info I had said otherwise.
If anyone missed it, I typed SUBJECTIVE (there, I did it again) in all caps because nearly all voting is just that. FYI, I had STM as my #1 in D-1 this week, why, because they beat the team I previously had as #1, SSA.
Another example, I saw Lafayette when they beat Hahnville 1-0. I wouldn't have rated them as a top 5 team at that time. Come to find out, they were missing 8-9 starters that game, so when their results start getting where I know they should be, I'll have to squeeze them in higher than I've had them.
Mandeville is doing great, no doubt, but I put their strength of schedule lower than some others.
Another example, I think St. Amant is worthy of top 10 consideration because their schedule is soooo stacked, and they have been competitive, but since they have not recorded any wins, I'm compelled to leave them off.
It's all subjective--at EVERY level.

Tigertail,
Comforting to know that folks like yourself, barbedad and others have subjective, realistic opinions into this sport. Perhaps it has been the ranting of a few that throws it all off. Gotta take the good with the bad. With that said, my question was WHO votes. Just wanted to add if I could, but first must get an understanding of how it all works.
By the way, Lafayette has less than 8-9 starters missing, more like 5 to 7. They graduated atleast 5 from last year. That leaves only 6 left behind for this year. Looking forward to seeing what they can come up with this year. We should get an indication from the St. Louis Tourney.
Thanks for the time.

Thanks for shedding some light barbedad20. Can you also somehow show what region/area each voter represents? I am not asking for names but I think if the area they are from is made public we will all be less suspicious and we will know whether they are subjective or not.

Tigertail, With that said, my question was WHO votes. Just wanted to add if I could, but first must get an understanding of how it all works. The voters consist of 4 coaches, a few parents, even a referee. We have 1 from Lake Charles (me), 1 from Shreveport, 2 from the bayou area, and 1 from New Orleans. All have what I think is a great understanding of High School Girls Soccer. I never have hid behind a screen name, everyone knows who I am and I will tell you I am voter 1. How would your vote stack up this week?

Does anyone have some results on Lafayette or Fontainebleau? According to their records they've played a combined 4 games. Don't think that's true.

Perhaps if I had asked if there was a official LHSAA panel voting on girls soccer, that would have been simpler and quicker. I know now that it is not.
My opinion is just like everyone else. Here it is.
1. STM 2. Mandeville 3. SSA 4. Barbe 5. Foutainbleu 6. Mt. Carmel 7. Caddo Magnet 8. Dutchtown 9. Lafayette 10. Dominican

Wanted to comment on Byrd. Played in our tournament this weekend.
Obvious they are a disciplined, well-coached team. Went toe to toe with St. Charles Catholic (2-2 tie), Comeaux (0-0 tie), and fell to eventual tourney champ Baton Rouge 0-1, all in bracket play.
Stiff results against stiff competition. If the top 10 in D-1 was not so jam packed with solid teams, they would have gotten in mine. I was truly glad they got some exposure down south, they are a class act and an excellent team. Very positive and friendly fans as well.
