Why don't you post the coaches' poll either instead of or in conjunction with this poll? It might bring in some fresh objectivity and provide some pithy fodder for discussion.

Lafayette High wins again. Yes a weak team, but with loses only to Newman, Mt. Carmel and St. Louis, the lady Lions are beginning to roll. Should move up the poll, right Barbedad20. Show the Lady Lions some love. You asked where would our scoring come from? Chelsea Granger -4 Macie Andrus -3 Brooke Perry -1 and 2 more by I don't know. They were very nice goals - headers off crosses, vollies off crosses, and near post finishes instead of post bangers. Most importantly, didn't play down to the level of opponent.

Another great rivalry game is about to take place on Friday night. FHS ranked number 5 in the state is hosting number 2 in the state St. Scholastica. I would have to think FHS moves up in the polls a few spots if they win tomorrow. All of these kids play with each other during the club season, so it should be a good one.

Mandeville at #6 is quite a complement to the program but they have struggled to their excellent record over these 18 games mostly against teams that they SHOULD defeat. Quality win against Caddo Magnet and also Div II Neville and Parkway. Quality loss against Fontainebleau. I have seen only a few of the ranked teams but I believe that there is a lot of separation tetween the top 2 or 3 teams and the rest of the top 10 - even if on a given night one of those top 2-3 teams gets a loss.

Couldn't agree more diverdo. Just because those top 2-3 teams play a quality team and get a loss it doesn't mean that a team moves ahead of them because they beat a mediocre team. This all goes back to strength of schedule which right now is all up to the individual coach and whether that coach wants some good strong games or just a record that looks good.

Mount Carmel is 10-2-1. Your missing the 3-1 win over Dominican on the coaches thread.

Neutral, I agree that Dominican, for instance, with a losing record may be every bit as good as Mandeville which has won a bunch of games. But just to clarify my thoughts regarding mandeville, the coach replaced graduated starters from last year, more than 1/2 the team, with almost all freshmen and I believe his gameplan of carefully developing the chemistry among the players on this year's team is a reasonable approach. Ws/Ls really do not matter until district, nor does the polling during the season. Peaking at the end is what it is all about and each coach has to figure out how best to get to that point - Dominican, again, is an excellent example from last year.

The one thing about Mandeville's freshman class is that they are pretty talented bunch of girls from the Mandeville Premier state championship team, which has won the championship the last 2 years for sure.

Diverdo, I agree.
By the way, there are some more results missing from the records in some of the New Orleans teams besides the Dominican - Mt. Carmel 1-3 result for district:
Dominican - Chapelle = 2-0 (district) Sacred Heart - Mount Carmel = 0-2 (last night, 12/19) Newman - Dominican = 2-1 (last night, 12/19)

to "alleyball" The girls from the current U-15 girls team which were State Champions last year, are split between Fontainebleu, SSA and Mandeville. One could say that all 3 schools enjoy the talent of 3 Premier State Champions and 1 Premier State Finalist. Just because they all played in the Premier State Championship games last year does not translate into automatic team chemistry. Team cohesion will evolve over the season or they will just desintegrate .
