Comeaux @ Lafayette
Final score Lafayette 2 - Comeaux -0
Comeaux applied pressure early with the wind then about 15 minutes left in the half the game started to change when a starter who did not start for disciplinary reasons, entered the game. The second half was a domination by Lafayette with 2 goals in that half. Comeaux was not able to counter attack, therefore Lafayette kept pressure on the comeaux keeper the entire second half.
The first goal was on a shot by Macie Andrus that the keeper got hands on but still found the net. The second was by Chelsea Granger which came on a shot by a Lafayette player that the keeper thought was going wide, but hit the post and the follow up shot by Granger into the back of the net.
I think the Lady Lions looked pretty good with their ball movement once they settled into the game. I think the young players are gaining confidence and maturing pretty well. They started 3 Seniors, 4 Juniors, 1 Sophmore, and 3 Freshmen in tonights game. I think the future is bright for the Lady Lions. They should be ready to compete come playoff time.

Opelousas 3 Woodlawn 1
Score at half 2-0
1st half First goal(OHS) came in the twentieth minute when Woodlawn Keeper came out to kick ball out of box and rolled ankle in a hole (Opelousas field had several "obstacles"), She shook it off but on the next run down she couldn't put weight on the ankle and OHS scored again. Goalie came out of half with ankle strain. (she did return in second half)
2nd half Third goal came after WHS sweeper ran into OHS player in box. PK awarded. Woodlawn goal came in last minutes of game and was a one on one with keeper.
Both teams playing down (WHS had 11 and OHS had 13) due to sick players (guess it is just that time of the year.)

Why didn't Newman and Ursuline play overtime since it was a district game?

I too question why the Newman Ursuline game did not go into OT. One of the two referee's, both of whom let the aggressive play get out of hand, ultimately leading to injuries, made it a point to verbalize, before the start of the game, that there would be no overtime in this game.

This format was agreed upon by the Coaches in this District, at the pre-season planning meeting. 3 pts for a win 1 point for a tie, and 0 pts for a loss Goals for, or against count up to 3. Tie-breaks: Overall Win-Loss record, Goals for, Goals against (up to 3), etc.........
