Good physical game from both teams. Goal came about 3 mins into the first overtime off a corner kick that bounced around in the box and took a deflection into the net.
Byrd started the game very strong and was getting to the ball and winning the majority of 50/50 balls. The game was pretty frantic at both ends for the first 20 minutes without much play in the midfield. Both teams traded opportunities on goal but there were no real quality chances. I felt we settled down a little after that and controlled the ball better but still forced to many balls into the forwards. Byrd was quick on the counter attack getting numbers forward and caused some confusion in our marking. Overall pretty much what I expected in the first half with both teams not wanting to make a big mistake or take many risks.
Things opened up a little in the second half and both teams had some good opportunities on corners and free kicks with neither team able to capitalize. I felt the center ref was very inconsistent with his calls but ultimately did not influence the outcome in the end. After Byrd scored we pressed hard for the last 7 minutes with a couple of great chances that went just wide of the post.
Rematch comes next saturday at Independence Stadium on the turf. Magnet needs to win by 1 to tie Byrd in district or win by 2 to win it outright. Despite the bad blood between these two teams, these games are exactly what we need to get ready for the playoffs. Great atmosphere and fan support for both schools. Should be a great game on Saturday.

I agree with your assessment of the game except for how Byrd scored. It looked to me like a shot up and by the goalie after being kicked by a couple of Magnet and Byrd players. It was definitely a player getting a foot on a loose ball.
It really surprised me to not see Magnet dominate the shots and time of ball possession with so many of Byrd's players being hurt. Byrd did not have many players coming off of the bench and started looking very tired at the end of regulation. The defenders and goalie really dug deep at the end of overtime as Magnet brought everybody up.
I agree that the game could have gone either way and that the center ref was inconsistent. Every time that I have seen him ref the center he does the same thing - he lets them play and get rough and then later tries to start making calls. If you want to let them play then fine, just be consistent.
Congratulations to both teams on a well played game. It is a shame that the talent has to be split between these two schools.

Does anyone know what time the game for Byrd and Caddo is on Saturday, Jan 26th? Also, any players/jersey #'s that will impress?

I thought the game was to be played at Indy. Has it been changed?

It is on the schedule for Caddo. It is in red which indicates a change. Hopefully one of the coaches will post something so we can all be sure.

Shrevedad is correct, the game will be played at Caddo Soccer. Apparently there was a conflict with Independence involving a couple of football games previously scheduled. 1pm at Caddo Soccer, should be a great rematch.

It has to be played. Magnet already has a match with Captain Shreve set for Monday. Maybe they will need to play a doubleheader that night. Or they need to play before or after those football games at Indy on Saturday.

So far, there is word that it might be moved to that Friday instead of that Saturday, but that's also unsure. We'll keep everyone posted.

Just saw on the NWLA soccer site that this match has been moved to Sunday at 2 PM at Indy. I'm sure Caddo would have been a mess today. Good move on the coaches part.

The coaches met at the field this morning at it was almost entirely under water. Should be nice weather tomorrow and the field conditions won't be an issue. Should be another great game, hopefully neither team will have any injuries prior to the playoffs.

Byrd wins a great match in penalty kicks. Both teams played hard and played well. I thought Byrd came out stronger at the beginning of each half with Caddo Magnet ending each half stronger. Both the overtime periods were pretty even.
Shootout was 3-3 after 5 kickers. Byrd then made, Magnet made, Byrd made and Magnet hit the left post and it was over.
