Well it seems that I'll be the one to give the summary.
Fontainebleau wins this one 2-1 in PKs.
The game was a tale of two halves. The first half dominated by SSA and the second by FHS. SSA came out firing in the first half and Fontainebleau seemed to be adjusting, but adjusting slowly. Then in about the last ten minutes of the half, FHS started to fall apart and get sloppy, and Kelly Gauthreaux beat the FHS defender, slipped it past the keeper coming out, and shot, but defender Bri Joseph was there to deflect it. Unfortunately the deflection was in the area of Tricia Johnson, and she touched it into the goal. The rest of the half was a slow change of momentum with FHS having the edge at halftime.
Fontainebleau completely turned it around in the second half. They started playing their soccer rather than trying to conform to SSA. It payed off when Hannah Leumas broke free down the sidelines and crossed the ball into Casey Adkins who buried the shot. (Those are both freshmen by the way). Fontainebleau maintained control of the remaining minutes of the half, and into the first overtime. The second overtime was an even one, with both teams wearing out. and so we move to pks....
Fontainebleau won the toss and picked to kick second:
SSA: Tricia Johnson - goal to lower right corner
FHS: Elisha Tarbell - goal
SSA: Danielle Beatty - blocked by Jean Bernard
FHS: Shelbi Lacombe - goal
SSA: Camille Shepherd - high goal that deflected in off the crossbar
FHS: Caitlin Leumas - goal
SSA: Caitlyn Kinchen - shot over
FHS: Casey Adkins - goal to seal the victory!!
And so congratulations to the FHS Lady Bulldogs on their 7th STRAIGHT DISTRICT TITLE! (undefeated with a win over hammond on friday)
And kudos to the girls for overcoming doubt, and for overcoming and pushing past SSA TWICE! despite everyone else saying that they couldn't.
