Looks like we could see a fantastic semi on the top side of the bracket with STM and Fontainebleau. Might be better than the final!!!

Of course it depends on who wins and when but I have in my "unofficial" bracket STM going to Fontainebleu in the semi's.

Top of Bracket looks like FHS & STM in semis.
Bottom of Bracket could see Barbe & Lafayette square off in Quarter-Finals (at Barbe), and SSA & Mt Carmel in other QF game. I'm guessing Barbe & Mt. Carmel advance to Semis.
Finals...STM over Barbe...D1 District 3 rules.

STM has this definitely the only possible upsets would be Mt. Carmel or Fontainebleau but still I think STM will bring home another trophy

If Barbe and LHS play in the quarters, it will be at LHS unless the 5-3 team beats the 1-2 team in the opening round. If that happens, Barbe travels to 5-3 in the regional round and would be at home for the quarterfinals. Either way, I think LHS advances to the semi's. In the bottom part of that bracket everyone seems to forget about Mandeville. I think the winner of SSA / Acadiana advances to the semi's. In the end it will not matter, Fontainebleau will win the finals.

STM looks like they have played consistently great soccer all season. if and when , Fontainebleau plays STM they will have to put on their same district rvial faces that they did vs SSA and Mandeville. Althought three of those games went into over time. The two schools have never competed against each other, so they both don't know what to expect. Should be a great game. The bottom bracket will have some great quarters and semi's. It just depends who shows up. Fontainebleau, SSA, Mount Carmel, Barb, and Dominican all seem about even, but Fontainebleau has to face STM in the semi's. Somebody has to.

Just for thought, let's see how these predictions play out to get to those semi's: ___________________________________________________
1st Quarter of Brackets
Fontainebleau - Would beat (essentially) => St.Amant/Dominican/South Terrebonne or HLB/St.Joe's/Bonnabel/Chapelle/Hahnville or Capt Shreve or Northshore
Not to bad, biggest deal here, the only loss for Fontainebleau this year is Dominican ___________________________________________________
2nd Quarter of Brackets
STM - Would beat (essentially) => Ouachita or Ruston/Cental Lafouche/Carencro/West Monroe or Natch Central/East Ascension/Byrd or Caddo Magnet/New Iberia
This looks like a pretty smooth path __________________________________________________
3rd Quarter of Brackets
Barbe - Would beat (essentially) => West Monroe or Natch Central/Caddo Magnet or Byrd/Woodlawn/Lafayette/Airline or Capt Shreve/Terrebonne/Higgins
Couple bumps here with Caddo or Byrd, and then Lafayette ____________________________________________________
4th Quarter of Brackets - aka "The Path from Hell"
SSA - Would beat (essentially) => Acadiana/Dutchtown/Northshore or Capt Shreve or Hahnville/BRHS/West Jeff/Mt Carmel/Mandeville
Are you kidding me, this group has a battle to get to semi's - SSA, Acadiana (who happen to beat Barbe twice), Dutchtown, Mt. Carmel, BRHS, and Mandeville !!! This path to the semi's is brutal ![/b]

Since there are as many, and probably more, quality teams in the bottom quarter bracket than in the other 3 quarters of the brackets combined, why don't we have the winners in the top 3 quarters play each other for the right to face the bottom quarter winner? Or, how about the bottom quarter being double elimination so that the best team really does get through this minefield? The point of my posting is that these playoff brackets are a joke, and more so this year than most: On paper (yea, I know, you gotta play the games), Fontainebleau looks like it would get to the semifinal game untested; the winners of the other 2 quarters will probably have only 1 tough contest to get there; while the bottom quarter survivor will be bruised and battered after 3 really tough matches and will probably be ripe for a loss by then. 4 of the top 10 teams in Division I will play each other in the opening round! Too bad there isn't some effort to get the best 16 teams (on paper, under ANY method)) to the second round, the best 8 teams to the quarters, the best 4 to the semis, and theoretically the best 2 teams in the championship game. I think it is called "seeding."

diverdo, you would think that makes sense. Maybe if the coaches of all the top schools come together and bring this up to LHSAA, then maybe something logical may eventually be put in place. Any volunteers to get this started?? barbedad?? The way it is now it is just up to lady luck to see whether your team may have an easy time to the final and then show up once to win it all. And that is true for everyone; not just this year's lucky ones.

It is voted on by the Athletic Directors. The LHSAA A.D.s meeting is going on right now. Softball put together a proposal to have their playoffs seeded. If you go on the LHSAA website you can read any proposed rule changes for any sport. I believe all it really takes is having one or more schools sponsoring and putting together a proposal to be voted on by the Athletic Directors and a push from the soccer people to have the A.D.s vote in favor of it. I'm not exactly sure of the way it should or could be done but I know that the system in place right now is not working.

I read that in the paper soccer was the only major sport without a seeding for the playoffs being voted on.

As everyone thinks about their picks for the finals, don't forget about how things worked out last year. How many people actually thought Dominican would win state, the week before the playoffs started. How about there were no district #1 seeds in the final 4. Although I have not seen all the best teams play, I have seen at least 1 team from most every district play and from what I can tell by seeing and watching the scoreboard is that these playoffs should be close and competitve. If the "big dogs" don't show with their best efforts, they could be on the way to the house. So with solid defense and a good break here and there I think there are at least 12 to 15 teams that could make a legitiment(sp?) run to the finals. Good luck to all!
