First with first game in the playoffs being so poorly officiated, I would say this game was fairly well officiated. Second I think the Advocate story attached above pretty much says it all. MCA just couldn't find the back of the net, only the 2nd time this year against a very tough schedule that MCA didn't score. Many shots were blocked, cleared or hit the posts, bounced around in front of but none found the back of the net. Usually MCA is the one finding the way to win, but this time BRHS did. They scored from a penalty kick from almost midfield. I think the kick surprised MCA as it was a very far kick that bounced right in front of the goalie and was tapped in by BRHS. I thought if MCA had been further up in the box and gave the goalie some room or forced an offsides the outcome would have been different on the play. This score seemed to put MCA in shock as 3 more shots came fairly quickly with one being waived off as an apparent score because it had went out of bounds first. After that MCA pretty much controlled the game and with the quality of shots could have easily came back from the 1 point deficit except either the goal keeper or sweeper were making great plays or by sheer unluckiness (if that is a word) couldn't get it in. The last chance with about 30 seconds to play must have touched 3 MCA players within 5 yards of the goal before the goalie secured it. Congratulations to MCA on a great season and many great wins. Look out for MCA the next couple of years as this team was young, with 7 sophomore starters and 1 freshman starter. Even though I didn't think the best team won tonight, BRHS did what it took to win and that is why you play the game. Anyone can win once the playoffs start. Congratulations to BRHS and good luck to you in the rest of your run.
