The La referee website referee-la.com/ has been updated for several pieces of new information.
The recert dates and locations for referee grades 5, 6 and 7 have been posted.
An update to the date for the instructor and assessor recertification clinic has been posted.
Also, today the powerpoint presentation for the State Tournament Clinics should be posted. As a reminder, any referee working at one the State Tournaments for D1 and Premier Championships and Prelims must have attended a state Tournament Rules Clinic. Clinics will be held in every area that is hosting a tournament. A list of attendees will be posted on the website as they complete the requirement. The presentation is posted for general info should any referee (or coach) wish to make a copy of it.
State Tournaments will be held this year in N.O., BR, Lafayette, Houma, Mandeville, Alexandria, Lake Charles, Gonzales, Monroe and Shreveport. So referees will need to attend this clinic. It will last about an hour. The purpose is to ensure that referees are fully aware of all rules that are unique to these competitions and the differences between what may be going on at local tournaments, club play, etc. We need to be on the same page.
Coaches - if you desire, the State Referee Committee, on request, will be happy to show this presentation to any club's coaching staff (D1 and Premier). A member of the SRC and an LSA rep will come to review what the referees are being instructed to do and what LSA will be doing as well. This is a benefit to coaches so there are no surprises. There is no cost for any clinic for referees or coaches. Contact info for the Committee can be found on the website.
We will try to post clinic dates for areas as they become posted. I do know that there are two clinics scheduled for New Orleans on March 11 and April 8 at the CCSRA meeting at EJ Hospital.
Lastly, FYI, a pay increase for referees at State Tournament Games was approved by the LSA Board in January. Pay rates have been increased across the board with additional bonus pay given to referees who are grades 7 or higher. So maybe this is a little incentive to now consider that upgrade. If you need info on upgrading, contact me on here privately or any member of the SRC. They will be happy to guide you through the process.
