As you all probably know the shin guards have to be stamped with a NOCSAE approval. I compiled a list of approved shin guards for my girls and thought I would share it with you all. If I left any off the list please share.

This is news to me. Is this HS only? My kids play with OSI gaurds (as have I), which offer fantastic protection and comfort, but not sure if they are "approved". Where can I get more info on this rule?

Most vendors are aware of this new rule and can direct you to NOCSAE approved shin-guards. I went to Academy and Knickname for Richard (because computer recognizes it as a bad word) sporting goods (in B'ham but one is opening in Baton Rouge) and they had them all bunched together. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Guess I have to buy new gaurds to get the stamp of approval, even though they won't be as good as the ones we already use (I know some of the approved gaurds are junk, but I'm sure we can find some that are good). Oh well, more money to satisfy some bureaucrat's new rule. Such is life.

My daughter thinks (and I agree) that the NOCSAE shinguards approved for her height are tiny. Does anyone anticipate an issue with wearing shinguards that are larger (i.e., approved for a taller player)?
