DeRidder Scores:
D-1 Ruston-2 (dang) D-4 Tuerlings 0 (woot) D-2 Menard 4 (advanced to quarter finals....go figure.) D-1 Vanderbilt 2 in overtime. (dang)
It was a very difficult tourney for us. Ups and downs. There were times of greatness and times of disarray. When we show up, we can play with the best of them. Unfortunately we didn't show up for all of the games.
Some notes: Ruston plays good hard nosed soccer. Very physical and very passionate. They deserved to move forward. They just beat us.
Tuerlings: Man, our guys came to play. Passes were there. Defense was there. Goalie play(a freshman) was there. Mike Hollier is all that and a bag of chips...but he can't carry the team all by himself. They need goalie help.
Menard: We know these guys pretty well. We've played w/ many of them in different leagues for years. They attacked and played hard. Good game for them. We were flat...praps from a big buffet lunch...lol. Good game for them.
Vanderbilt: I know they are good. You could see it, but DeRidder played scrappy ball. Vandy scored in the first half. DeRidder held, held, held...bend but don't break. We were able to hold them to a tie and force overtime. I know they have a lot of players, but I wanted to give props to #5. He played hard, in control and was a leader on the field. Good for him and the team. We forced over time, but ultimately they had more than us....today.
Alvais played his rear end off. Had a great tourney. The freshman goalie for us and played beyond his years. I was proud of the boys. I look forward to a healthy team and what they can accomplish.
To the organizers...great job. I look forward to another great tourney next year.
Goat...it was great meeting you. I'm sure I'll see you around.

Holy Savior Menard Scores:
HSM -0 vs Teurlings -2 HSM -0 vs Ruston -1 HSM -4 vs Deridder -2
I feel very much like trf. Last weekend at Dutchtown we had one of our defenders break his tibia (out for the season). We played great possession all weekend, but could not seem to find the back of the net against Teurlings and Ruston. I was moving players around all day trying to find a good chemistry. I think we finally "might" (I hope) have found it when we played against DeRidder. It seemed that once we got a goal, we were a bit more motivated and worked harder.
I think Division II is going to be a very exciting division to watch this year. Tournament wins are nice, but you have to remember that they are shortened games with teams playing multiple games in one day. Ruston, DeRidder and Teurlings were teams that I feel will be in contention in D-II this year; I did not get to watch many games, but I think at this point D-II is wide open for the state title.
Thanks to Chad Vidrine and ALL the Beau Chene parents/supporters. You put on a great tournament.
Good Luck to all teams this year.

Copa Acadiana: Quarterfinal B1 vs. D2 Ruston 0 - Alexandria S.H. 2 (OT) Alexandria played a great game and best of luck to them. My boys ran out of gas. 4 games in a day is tough and all the teams that did it deserves a lot of credit. Great tournament and Chad did a great job trying to make it work. I want to congratulate Ruston for a great run in this tournamrnt. I know DeRidder was really looking forward to a rematch with you after our tie last week. Your boys played well and I heard the same from parents on the other teams. I wish you best of luck on the rest of your year.

I would also like to thank Chad for an awesome tournament. I know Mother Nature really threw a monkey wrench at you and you handled it very well. It was a long day, but its what had to be done and kudos to you for making the best of it for us all. Your parents really worked thier tails off making sure there was plenty of good food for us all. I want to especially thank whoever brought the tv and so graciously allowed me to stay and watch the second half of the football game! I hope to be back again next year!
Goat, it was great to finally meet you and really enjoyed talking soccer with you.
Good luck to all the teams from all divisions on the reamainder of your seasons. Hope to see some of you in the post season!

University scores:
uhs 0-0 st. Louis uhs 1-0 northlake Christian uhs 0-0 Neville uhs 0-1 st. Martin
I think our defense had stepped it up since the dtown game a coupleweeks ago, and we are getting our team chemistry back. Only allowing one goal was very impressive but we still have some problems finishing... Wish Micah peters was still here!

We also looked forward to another match against your boys, and it was just as exciting (minus the fireworks from the first match). I really enjoyed the supported shown to us from your parents. A class group and a testament to the boys on the field. I have a feeling it won't be the last time we meet. Good luck the rest of the way.

I watched 8 games on Friday afternoon and Saturday and saw some great soccer. Ruston, St. Louis and St. Martin all played solid games. I didn't get to see Alexandria except from a distance. However, in terms of overall play I have to give the edge to Vandebilt. I'll be surprised if they don't "take it all" today.
And kudos to the tournament coordinators and referee assignor for being flexible and creative and putting on a great tournament despite the challenges posed by the weather.

the neville vs st. louis game will be a good game in the future. game should of been 1-0 st. louis. but the other 2 goals were due to questionable calls... GOOD LUCK TIGERS (editorial comment from my ever-creative son...)
