Totally agree....teamwork is the only way the game is won. A forward's job is to score goals, but the only way she can score is if the ball is passed to her. Every player must realize it doesn't matter who scores, the object is to win the game.

Teamwork is Key!! I cannot see how seveth and eight graders arround the state be placed on varsity teams. Alot has to do with soccer talent at those schools. Which should make my point. The game is not won by the shooter, but the whole team front to back. I thought the original intent of this thread was to discuss/mention young and upcoming talent in LA girls high school soccer, not about teamwork or to chide the 'talent level' at certain schools for playing 7th or 8th graders!

I thought the original intent of this thread was to discuss/mention young and upcoming talent in LA girls high school soccer, not about teamwork or to chide the 'talent level' at certain schools FRom Previous thread: ???is there a younger team in state than Runnels? They start a7 th grader, 4 8th graders, and 3 9th graders. And ranked 4th in Division III! TEAMWORK!!! From previous thread: There are many freshman (and some 8th and 7th graders) playing on particular HS teams apparently because there is no one else at their school that can simply run up and down a soccer field. There is the occasional freshman that is truly an impact player game in and game out, and could play for just about any team. I personally prefer to talk teams and not name kids. I still advocate adults refrain from criticizing other people's kids on an open internet forum. Perhaps we should have a thread or section of the board where the players can critique the parents. That could be great sport. Lafayette High is starting 3 or 4 freshman, with another 2 or 3 getting about 50 minutes of playing time. Too many to name.

Coming from boys soccer for too many years to name, I am not used to 9th graders making such an impact on the game, but I have to give credit to a couple of my girls at SJA.
Rachel Fenner - started virtually every game in center midfield this season, game winner against BRHS (very big deal over here)
Izzy Gutierrez - has filled in at every position on the field including center back for Leah Aultman when she has been out. (Very big shoes to fill and she has done a nice job)

plz let's not go crazy here. Jessica is a good player but best freshman in the state is a stretch. Jessica has great potential. She is 14 years old and has a ton of developing to do. this is her dad.

cuttysark: Thank you for putting it in perspective for youngmoney. No single person can see, or even know the majority of the freshman that play in this state to make that statement. I'm sure she is a very good player.

ASK DHS who the best freshman is? If it's not the Chapelle Keeper Kristi Joseph they don't have a clue.... The GK is on an average team that kept them within 1 goal of DHS and Sacred Heart 2 times each....The kids a best- She may be the next coming of EC!

Ronaldinho. Pope John Paul lost 2-1. Pope did not have their full team. Not to take away from Lusher. They are a quality team. The freshman did play and tallied the 1 goal. De La Salle was a blowout.
