personal opinion... fontainebleau and st. paul's should play another game to decide on a single district champion. i know players on both sides would love to play that game, also it solves the problem of playoff seeding and makes the "worthless" seeding game into a fun and exciting game. coach watkins told his players that the rules for determining champion/playoff seed are still in question, and it will most likely be up to the coaches to decide what is done. i think the players should push for a district championship game, do or die, between these two great squads.

An observation from the Slidell-Mandeville game. The Mandeville team always seems to have such great potential, but the constant fussing amongst themselves and with the referees keeps this fine team out of sync. I know they won 2-0, and have an excellent record, but the discord with this team will continue to be a hindrance. Guys, put your energy into team play! close game, gotta give it to mandeville, a good team, but doesnt compare to the squads of fhs and stp.. honestly, i predict a loss in the first round in playoffs for them. the frusteration between players is what kills them

My two cents on a "playoff" match to determine seeds is as such...... do both teams have home field advantage in the first round? If yes, there is no way I play that game if I can help it. If no, then you play it with the goal in mind of advancing in the playoffs. Is home field in the first worth it? Or is a loss the smart move (maybe a better route to the final goes to the number two seed)? In any event, while a third match between these two teams would be great from a fans and a players viewpoint, in my opinion, the big picture is the next playoff game....not this one. Even as deep as St. Paul is, losing a Eustis or a Mingo would be a major obstacle to overcome. FHS also would have trouble with replacing key players (Jackson etc.). In short, they are both District champs (provided they both win Friday) and this game has a lot more negatives than positives. Good luck to all of the squads from the district in the playoffs. Coach Inman Whether or not the #1 or #2 seed is better is entirely opinion at this point. Do you play Br. Martin away in the first round as the #2 seed, with Dutchtown being the probable semi and get the easier half of the playoff bracket (bottom half). Or do you take the #1 - most likely Rummel at home first round, then Shreve in the quarters, and the winner of Jesuit vs. Laffy in the semi? There really is no good choice here. While some may say that the Jesuit vs. Laffy clearly would make you want to play in the bottom half as the #2 seed, I personally think that Br. Martin away in the first round is extremely dangerous. The district championship game, if there were to be one is a pride game. The winner comes out with huge momentum. I agree that the risk of injuries is a concern, but you take that risk every time that you step on the field. St. Paul's traditionally schedules a game before playoffs every yeat anyway, so I could see them forgoing this to play Fontainebleau. In fact, I highly doubt that St. Paul's will take nearly a week and a half off before playoffs, so if you are gonna play a game, why not make it mean something. P.S. My bad Peyton... lol

I personally dont think that this game would mean anything, because the teams share the district title, which both definitely deserve, and this is just for seeding. Now if this were for the true, all-out district championship, I would say go for it and play another game, but this is only for seeds. The games that should be played for pride are during district, and FHS and SPS split 1-1, so this game is just a chance for more injuries.

SO predictions for the final game night?
Fountainebleau should handle Covington fairly easily, but will most likely rest players after it is 3-0. 5-1 finsh.
Nortshore should put Hammond to sleep with a 3-1 victory. Some tightening up will be needed for a playoff run Northshore.
St Pauls should handle Slidell. the two best forwards in the district will grace the same field, but in different colors. 3-1.
Mandeville most likely runs over ponchatula, after they have had a downfall. 4-0.

RE: tiebreaker for the co-champs, LHSAA bylaws state that each district shall determine their own method of placing teams. So at the diditrct meeting they had to have selected tiebreakers, which may have included record in non-district games in the division, over all record, goal differentials, goals for, goal allowed, or even a coin toss. The coaches should already know what these tie-breakers are.

I think the game will be played Monday night at 7 PM. Location? District rules state that they must play a game to decide the seedings. Congratulations to both squds on a district title and great seasons. Also congrats to Mandeville, Northshore and hopefully Ponchatoula (someone said on another thread they would draw Jesuit - I'm not too sure about that). Good luck to all of the teams in the playoffs. Coach Inman

there will be a coin toss to determine the location. both ADs were not available today for the toss, so it will be on Sunday with the winner having the option to play home or away. StP had a match against Vandy scheduled for Monday so that is off teh table. FHS had Salmen on Tuesday that is also cancelled.
