agreed... I think that the Wolves are on the road to recovery though. The loss to Northshore kind of woke them up and they played both with more intensity and more physically tonight. One thing I was surprised to see was the intensity that Pontchatoula played with despite the score. Good win for the Wolves, though, and definite improvement.

This Friday on the Northshore:
St Pauls and Covington -- Wolves won earlier game by 2-0 scoreline. Covington is an 0-9 team you don't like to play cause they do get after you and the football team cheers every collision on the field. Frankie gets 2. Lions get nil.
Fountainebleau and Ponchtoula. -- Bulldawgs won 4-2 in first match and should have few problems with Greenies who are having trouble scoring. Brooks gets 2.
Mandeville and Northshore -- Skippers won in OT 2-1 in first match. Game of the Week this time. Northshore is in 4th place and must win to get to 3rd position. Mandeville D is persistent. Sweepers on both teams are keys to this game as is Conn for Mandeville.
Hammond and Slidell-- Tors won 5-2 in early season surprise. Will Tigers get the ball to Ford? Will Tornadoes feed Izzy? Stay tuned.

St Pauls - 4 Covington - 0
SPS will dominate as expected, while covington makes those hard tackles on them. covington might get under sps skin a little bit because of their persistent physical presence, but no worries for sps, its in the bag.
Fontainebleau - 4 Ponchatoula - 0
As you said ponchy has had some trouble scoring the past few games, and dont look for them to get past Fontainebleau D. The forwards should have plenty of chances friday night.
Mandeville - 1 Northshore - 0
this game will be all D, with both teams getting few chances at goal. Mandeville will get that one goal through Conn and cruise through the game on the back of their sweeper Roussel.
Hammond - 4 Slidell - 2
Both teams are comin off of shutouts, and it is a question of which one is hungrier and who can feed the ball to their player more... it will be hammond supplying israel more than slidell supplying ford.
Good Luck tomorow teams!

Upcoming games on Tuesday are rivalry games part deaux.
FHS at SPS -- last time it was 7-3 wolves as Captain Hook, er . . . Crane with the crab claw hand, sat the bench. I get shivers thinking he'll be on the pitch on Tuesday. Mmmm, battle for first place. Whoever wins will be in top half of playoff bracket with Lafayette and Jesuit. . . . maybe second place isn't so bad . . .
Mandy and Covington. Skippers have a headhunter in the defense who nearly took a head off a player. Teammates said it was retaliation for black eye given a Mandy player in first half. Well, it's time for Covington to beat up on somebody. Sic em Lions.
Slidell and Northshore. Panthers must win to ensure a playoff spot against Jesuit. Want the rematch. Nuff said. No score for Mr. Ford.
Ponchatoula and Hammond. Fifth place at stake, but maybe a run at Northshore. Somebody has to win. Ponchy on the downslide. I pick Hammond to even the series at 1-1 this season.

SPS vs. FHS - This one will be a lot closer than the last one. FHS will most likely bring a lot of fans, who will be out for revenge. This one will be noisy and should be more of a defensive match than the first one. The Wolves will have Captain Crane this time, but are just starting to come out of an offensive slump. I have to give this one to the Wolves with the home field advantage. SPS 3 - 2 FHS.
MHS vs. CHS - How does CHS keep going? No trouble for MHS with this one. Should be an easy win. MHS 3 - 0 CHS.
NHS vs. SHS - This should actually be a pretty good match, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Northshore come up with a rather lopsided scoreline. NHS 4 - 1 SHS.
PHS vs. HHS - This one should be a slightly better matchup than the NHS vs. SHS game, but I'll take Ponchy in this one cause I think they have better players all over the field. PHS 2 - 1 HHS.

Tuesday night is going to be insane at Hunter Stadium (St Pauls)... this will either make or break st pauls... they have alot on the line and need to prove themselves after playing 3 horrible games n a row losing one to northshore... but their back on track with two descent wins over cov and poncy...it should be extremely exciting game to watch come check it out

I think that the SPS/ FHS match has the potential to be a great one. Slidell will give NHS a run and HHS will stay with PHS for a while before the favorites pull away. MHS/CHS is a mismatch on paper. Biggest chance for an upset...SHS. Coach Inman

Hmm i dont know about biggest chance for an upset.. the best game of the district year so far will be at St Pauls tomorow night, and I think that FHS will come well prepared. They were embarrased by the score line a few weeks ago, and that number 7 will be in their minds throughout this GREAT match. Both teams are coming off of 2 solid wins with SPS beating ponchatoula and covington, and FHS beating slidell and ponchatoula, so who knows what can happen.
SPS - 3 FHS - 2 **DO NOT miss this game if you live on the northshore. i will definitely be there to watch this amazing game. MHS - 4 CHS - 0 **what can i say Mandy is rolling :-) GO SKIPS NHS - 2 SHS- 1 *i think the D can handle ford and the offense will have space to work and get chances. HHS - 3 PHS - 2 ** Ponchy has been dissapointing lately after their blistering start to the season event thgouh they played SPS and FHS last week, and the slump continues for them

what is the tiebreaker in this district if two teams finish with the same record and split games? if sps knocks off mhs, which is definitely nowhere close to being a given, what would determine the district champ? could be important this year as the champ would have to face laffy or jesuit in the semis...

Here's a scary thought--STP loses to Mandeville, Mandy and FHS win out. St Pauls then becomes a wildcard How would you like that if you are a district champ or runnerup. Good thing is it could take St Pauls out of the top bracket. More to come i'm sure

yea it's definitely not out of the question the way St. Paul's is playing and with that solid defense at Mandeville

1/24/06 PHS-4 HHS-0
All Ponchatoula tonight.
Girl's result, in overtime: PHS-2 HHS-1
Heather Fitz gets the game winner from 30-35 yards out with a minute left in 2nd OT.

what is the tie breaker between teams in district? this is a good one for my friend Coach Innman, but let me see....
rules for determining first from second are different from determining third and fourth.
if two teams finish first w/the same record and split games head to head then they are co-champs. but there must be a 3rd game between the two to determine the top seed for the playoffs.
that makes each game left on the schedule for FHS SPS and MHS a death match as far as Championship is concerned. MHS and SPS play Friday 1/27!!
This is incredible!!
any 3rd/4th/5th tie would use non district, DI record to determine seeding, that is after head to head is looked at. but that is not necessary this year in this district, maybe....

Anyone have details on the MHS/CHS game? The least productive offense scoring two goals on the stingiest defense looks interesting.
