A few really good matchups: EA- Mandy, Dutchtown-Byrd, and STM-Northshore. The rest should be easy wins for the top seeds.

Well got through round 1 with a 13-3, lets see how I do round2
Regional
1) Lafayette - Lafayette continues to roll through round 2 17) At Caddo Magnet (Cargill 3, Tuesday @ 5:00pm)
8) At Mandeville (Wednesday @ 6:30pm) 9) East Ascension - This may be the most interesting game of round 2. Most will probably go with Mandy, but I like EA here in a close one
------
5) At St Thomas More - Still the best #5 seed STM in a strong win 12) Northshore
4) At Mount Carmel - Hahnville runs into a wall here. 13) Hahnville
------------
3) At Dominican - I think St. Joes will fight hard till the end, but Dominican just too strong 14) St Joseph
6) AtFontainebleau - Fontainebleau gets a run for there money here, but pulls away in the end 11) West Monroe
------
7) At C.E. Byrd 10) Dutchtown - This is another good second round matchup, a repeat from a couple years ago. D-Town playing very strong right now and come away with it again
2) At St Scholastica - T-bone may benefit from my poor predictions, but I doubt it SSA handles this one 15) Terrebonne

For the most part, I have to agree with oldhattrick3, with one exception. Mandeville will prevail against EA. Mandy has too many scorers for EA, and unless you have seen them play on a regular basis, you can't tell where its coming from next. Just saying.....Should be 4-1 Mandeville.

Mydove, can't argue with you. Will be a challenge for EA defense. I'm betting on EA defense to hold up. However you are completely right about Mandy's attack

In most cases, I see the top see prevailing this round. But in regards to oldhattrick, Mandy over EA, and Byrd over Dutchtown. Coach Esker's girls will be well prepared for this one.

I want to say THANKS to the Caddo Magnet parents and coaches for their hospitality tonight. They were great fans, especially their boys team which took time out of their busy schedule to cheer on their schoolmates.
Great job in supporting your team. Thanks again.

Frenemies -- It was great to see the Lafayette High girls show up to support their arch rivals St. Thomas More tonight (we all know Coach Katie was scouting, but that's ok). All of the CSC Rage girls from Lafayette High made posters for all the Rage teammates on STM.
Good Luck against Mandeville. We hope to be able to extract revenge in the semifinals!

oldhattrick3 - D'Town was my pick also against Byrd. Now the fun begins. Ready for the quarterfinals? These will all be crazy good. I like Mandy, Mt. Carmel, Fontainebleau, and SSA in the semi's. What say you??

Dutchtown was not the better team tonight. They made an impressive showing, but Byrd was the better team pretty much the entirety of the game. I think Dutchtown will probably struggle the rest of the way out.
Unfortunate for Byrd though, because after seeing the #1 seed against Caddo Magnet, I would put Byrd in the same category as the top few seeds (Being unbiased, I'd say they're a better team than Lafayette from what I've seen). But, they didn't win, so I can't prove my point. Good luck to Dutchtown, but I think they're done after this.

Wow, that's all I can say. Byrd has a great team, well fought even game. Dtown got ahead early, byrd caught up. Byrd got ahead in ot, dtown caught up. PKs dtown went 4 for 4, byrd made 1 of 3.

sissoko- Sounds like a lil sour grapes. I know it is disappointing to lose out in the quarters after a long hard season, but it would be alot more classier to just say we fought hard and lost the game. Give the other team credit and respect for traveling four to five hours and beating Byrd on their home field. Just as a disclaimer I have not seen or have any relationship with Dutchtown. I believe (and have been there) where you give the other team credit for getting the job done and just leave it at that. Two comments you made after your observations on seeing these teams play. 1) I have seen multiple games and have played Byrd and Lafayette once each and to say Byrd is the better team I must question that. BOTH teams or good and the seperation if any is small. The only difference is Lafayette traveled and beat Caddo Magnet where as Byrd could not defend their home turf. As for as your comment about Dutchtown having a hard time from this point out! I do agree with you, but ALL teams in the final eight have a tough row to hoe from this point on. This final eight is strong from top to bottom. In the end I am a believer in winning and losing gracefully and that is comming from someone who has been a part of winning a state title and being runner up several times. One of those several times did I feel we were the better team? Probably so, but after the game shook the other coaches, players, referees hand and left it at that.

As far as Lafayette is concerned, if the only time you saw them play was against Caddo Magnet, you would not think they were the best team in the state either.

strong final eight- All tough games and at this point home field advantage could be a deciding factor. To tough to call and I am a little bias for District 6....Good Luck to all and as a fan you got to love the match ups. Overall give coaches credit top ten seedings were right on! Go District 6 and put 3 in the final 4!

District 6 or the "District of Death" , as sjadad puts it, has shown why it has been so appropriately named . Four teams made the playoffs, with three in the top ten, and now as it gets close to the end, we still see three teams from District 6 battling it out. Good luck to all and like div1coach222 says, "Go District 6!" You have to admit, it is pretty impressive.
