The Rams played some really good soccer this weekend. We do have a few players who wear their emotions on their sleeve, but for a St Louis fan/parent to refer to our kids as "Lafayette trash" , really that is a bit much. You could expect a reaction to that comment. I also feel that St. Paul could have been a little more welcoming to the Ram fans and parents by maybe offering a dry, warm place to hang out for the wait between games. Maybe the Gym? As far as the game, it was a good competitive game, with some not so great officiating. We shall meet again!

I agree completely. As I stated previously SPS did gain an advantage there. Playing 3 games in one day in cold and constant rain without a place to rest and possibly shower is a bummer.

What team do you follow, or play for. Just curious. You seem to have it out for the Rams. That's OK I'm sure Rams fans, players, and coaches won't lose any sleep over your opinion. I'm honestly not for (or against) any one team. I'm a fan of good soccer and it's that simple. To me, so far what I have seen for AHS has been dirty play. Yes, they have skill and a great deal of it at that, which shows in games such as the Jesuit game which I also watched. The problem for Acadiana is when they play a team with the same skill level or a team that is better. They get frustrated. I don't "have it out" for the Rams at all. I respect the quality of skill that they have but I'm just against the dirty play. Fair enough, Nuff said!

I think you saw it from playing a man down and some poor officiating. Acadiana is one of the more physical teams in the state - there's no denying that. Before the red card, Acadiana looked really good and have at least 4 very good chances very early in the match. Safe to say that they actually controlled the match the first 10-15 minutes. (If you doubt that, ask SPS to watch the game tape). As stated earlier, playing a man down against the stronger teams in this state will make any team press and become frustrated! Acadiana will be fine. They are only 2 weeks into a full squad from a football championship.

AHS is a skilled team and I enjoy watching them play. They are dangerous at times. However, don't confuse emotion with intensity. Emotion led to the red card.
I hope this turns into a good rivalry between St Paul's and AHS. See you in the playoffs.

I also feel that St. Paul could have been a little more welcoming to the Ram fans and parents by maybe offering a dry, warm place to hang out for the wait between games. Following the semi final match I heard the coach instructing parents and players to " everyone back to the hotel to rest" so not sure what the issue is for hanging between games...

Following the semi final match I heard the coach instructing parents and players to " everyone back to the hotel to rest" so not sure what the issue is for hanging between games... We had to check out before leaving for our 11:00 game. The hotel graciously allowed us to sit in the lobby. No rooms, beds, or showers! The boys didn't complain about it and the parents....well....we ALL do what needs to be done for our kids!

In other words, they had a dry, warm location to,sit between games...not quite thestoryngiven when speaking ill of St. Paul's not offering them somewhere...and surely some of the parents could have gotten a room or two for kids to shower of they wanted to.

Happy: you are not listening. The SPS fans / neutrals who were there should have opened up their homes to complete strangers and do laundry for the boys, provide them with hot (but not too hot, mind) showers with fluffy heated towels, etc. Then, offer them a nice bowl of gumbo (using each player's grandmother's recipe). Of course, all of this should happen in the 2.5 hour window between the semi final and the final.
I can only assume that the threats emanating from the Acadiana parents during the game to the principal of the host school, and others who were neutrals (including the referees who had also been out there all day in the rain), were because there was too much / not enough file in the gumbo?

I have already deleted tons of posts and banned or gave final warnings for many posters in this thread! Whatever happened and however disgraceful you may think it was, continuing this discussion about a few bad words and incidents instead of talks about the great soccer and players that were showcased this weekend will not be tolerated! I will lock this thread, delete and ban all of you who cross the line. No direct insults (no matter how true you think it is) or anything else aimed at a player, coach or specific parent or staff member will be tolerated.
You didn't hear or read about an incident that my team had against us earlier this year where a player scores a goal and celebrates by staring me down and flicking me off and saying the words to me. Why did he do this? I don't know... Maybe because I am on this board? Maybe because I am the VP of LHSSCA? Maybe because he just doesn't like the way I look or coach? Whatever the reason, It doesn't belong here just as it doesn't belong on the field. That's why I didn't mention it here or let everyone know about it. It wouldn't do anyone any good! Kids make mistakes and this young man from an un-named team did and he apologized to me after the game. I had a small chat with him and he moved on. Our job as parents and coaches and leaders are to guide these kids in the right direction and not bring them out into public ridicule and crucify them in public forums. Just as the kids need to know the difference between high level intensity and unacceptable behavior... So should adults know the difference between helping a kid, reporting incidents and just writing a report to crucify a player, coach or team. Keep it in your house... Don't bring it here cause if you cross the line, it will be the last time you do it here!
Tread lightly people! Now, let's bring this thread back to the good things about St Paul's tournament and not any more of this negative stuff!
I personally know a bunch of Acadiana parents and they are all good people as were the St Paul's parents I met this weekend. That's the great things we should take from this type of tournament... Meeting all of the new people and players. Is it really worth a fight or argument? I'm not a hippy or tree hugger by any means, but man, it's just a game and there will be a loser and winner (or a draw)... And in most cases one team will be happy and one will be unhappy. They may blame referees or coaching or weather... But whatever the case, just enjoy these games and time with your children or as players... These are the last games for many of these players and they only have 4 years of high school soccer. They will go on to tell their kids and grand kids about these times... Let's not leave memories of hate and fighting! Let these kids enjoy their short playing careers and support them and the coaches and the programs. Anything negative going on in the stands is unacceptable... Just enjoy the games and the players and cheer them positively and on as loud as you can. That's all... Carry on!

I realize I'm a little late, but I would've loved to see Grace King compete in this tourny. Would've made for more great competition. Anyone know why exactly they weren't?

They wound up being in the Holiday Cup sponsored by St. Michael's. They beat Catholic NI and E.D. White and tied McKinley. They won their bracket on points. They then faced Episcopal BR in a straight-to-shootout final. Grace King beat Episcopal 5-4 in that shootout.
