IMHO the play of the game was Malinich's assist on the second goal... going down to one knee, somehow keeping the ball from going out of bounds and sending in the box for another player to score. Just wish I could have seen a replay.

I see the NOLA.com article is by Kelly Morris who used to write for the Shreveport Times..our soccer coverage has slipped since she moved down south.

Congratulations to Northlake. 3 appearances (including 1 Championship) in the last 4 years is very impressive. Your team has played some great soccer during those 4 years, including last night.
Thank you to Coach Chetta for being an encourager of Andrew and the rest of our family through the years. You have always been so kind with your words.
2 years ago, Andrew became club-mates with Mason Morise, Weston Acosta, and Max Miller. Let me say it is much more enjoyable to have them on the same side of the pitch. Those 3 guys can play. It was so hard to face them as opponents last night. You guys are a talented group of young men. My heart continues to break for Max's injury that kept him out all season. I'm so glad that I've gotten to know you and your families these last 2 years.
Going through that line at the end of the evening was tough. I was glad for our crew, but there are too many kids on Northlake that I truly care about. Add Timmy Lopez to that mix. I saw his Freshman year Championship game (and his goal), but only really met him about a month ago when I went to watch Northlake play Bolton. He was just coming back from an injury. He played his heart out.
Blessings to each of you as you move forward!

What a crazy ride that was....
First congrats to Coach Dan Perez. A fantastic job of managing a great group of boys.
To the seniors, well done! You have made Lusher sports history and brought a title to the school that will be forever remembered.
To the attackers, it was a joy to watch. You play the game like it's supposed to be played: Andrew Malinich, Luca Alessandrini, Alex Fuselier, Joe Roberts....you absolutely ripped it. Goals, Goals, Goals...
Beau and Bram, you guys did a great job in the middle, defending and pressuring with great service in attack!
The backline, what can I say except you guys delivered when the chips were down. Michael DeBlanc, Josiah Malinich, Salus, Alex, Andrew Fuselier, and GK Jared Neeb....you guys did a fantastic job.
Thanks for an entertaining season and memories for a lifetime!

Now to our guys. What an incredible night! So tired, but still smiling. Mix in a few tears for so many kind words that have been sent our way (and continue to come).
Congrats to our guys. You toughed out one of the roughest playoff schedules out there. You had to defeat 2 defending State Champions and the team that was #1 all season until the final week. The focus was one game at a time; not being sure when the run might end. The temptation to get ahead of the next game. Throw in some drama and injuries from time-to-time just to keep it interesting. But you persevered through it all and you overcame.
This truly was a team championship. Guys stepped up all over the place. You played with heart. You played with purpose. You played some pretty soccer all year long. You trusted each other and worked as a unit. Different heroes emerging for different games. It has been a joy to watch from the sidelines (okay scream & cheer from the sidelines).
Now our Seniors. Luca Alessandrini, Andrew Fuselier, Beau LeMaire, Andrew Malinich, Jared Neeb, and Captain Bram Lloyd. I have loved watching you grow up. Each year seemed to get better (despite losing key team-mates each year). You stuck together & you grew together. The chemistry of you Seniors carried over to the rest of the team this year. Each of you provided great leadership & focus. And finally, thank you to Coach Perez and Asst. Coach Walther for all that you have done to direct, develop, and inspire this team.
Congratulations to all of you for making history for your school and for your team! You made this fan proud.

Great game and congratulations to both teams.
Video quality wasn't the best. Hopefully the other 2 will be better. (kept buffering so it was hard to get an accurate feel of the speed of play.)

SORRY... THIS JUST IN ... GAME MUST BE REPLAYED. Northlake was not properly uniformed. They had no number on the front of their jerseys or shorts.
NFHS rules state a 4" high number must be on front and at least a 6" high number on the back. Coach Chetta has been shown a yellow card for this violation. Fortunately, NCS had no trim on their jersys or he would have been red carded for the next three games.
THIS BREAKING NEWS JUST IN ... Lusher Charter was ranked 9th in the power ratings at the start of the playoffs behind Menard (4th), Westminster, Dunham, Country Day, etc. Also, Pope John Paul ranked 28th, Calvary ranked 26th, etc. Therefore because the coach seeding generally ignored the PR, the entire bracket this year has been vacated by LHSAA order and the entire playoffs must be replayed with the PR seeding.
(By the way... congraulations to both teams. I was sitting next to north goall... great view.)

Congrats to Lusher on their phenomenal season. Remember playing Andrew 2 years ago at NCS and going wow this kid is gonna be real good, and he didn't disappoint becoming one of the top 3 players in the state. Anyways again congrats again to Lusher don't know how they're gonna be next year all i know is Northlake will be back can't wait.

Northlake does have numbers on the front of their jerseys, there white on white with maroon outlining. My players love them but the parents and the rest of the community not so much.

It was meant to be tongue in cheek coach... looked like 3.86" high instead of 4" ... just making fun of the incredible detail of the NFHS uniform rules. NCS played a great game... finishing is the hardest thing to find in soccer.

The NFHS published a 30-second clip of the assist by Andrew Malinich to Luca Alessandrini for Lusher's 2nd goal in the Championship game.
